Diversity is a very important aspect of every college, especially at the University of Houston. This aspect is graciously embraced for all of those coming from different social classes. This university offers a culture which allows the community to connect with one another regardless of their background and social class. A culture with such opportunism offers a solid platform for all students to feel as one by giving the students a sense of belonging, gravitating to calling this a Cougar community.

This unification of culture teaches students to understand, learn, and respect each other. Faculty members of this university encourage student participation in many different organizations formed by students to help build their professional skills. Many organizations are affiliated with local and international companies; hence, students take this opportunity and help each other in building a strong network. Indulging in student activities enhances their cultural background, which helps the students further strengthen cultural values.

Diversity allows the students to explore by spreading their wings, going to the desired university provides a favorable environment, which makes a positive impact on the student’s cognitive development. This positive experience helps in a higher level of academic achievement, raising the bar for all those students who are looking for a competitive culture. The University of Houston allows everyone to begin their academic journey in a spotlight. This platform covers a social responsibility as a community, making a difference on a much bigger scale.

When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
