Our Purpose to Care for One Another

The Importance Of Life Givers

Coming to college has been a whirl wind of experiences for me.

I felt that I was ready to take on this new adventure and begin a new chapter, however, it is not as easy as it sounds. I often found myself lonely and wishing for things I did not have. I was stuck.

I was desperately searching for something or someone to help me feel better. Then one day someone told me something that I still embrace to this day. They told me about these people called live givers. What the heck is a life giver?

Were they someone I was supposed to go find? Some type of special person? No, it is simply exactly what it sounds like. They are ordinary people, doing extraordinary things in our live. A life giver is someone who radiates life from their very core. Simply being around them gives you life. They have a smile that can turn your entire day, week, or month around. When you are weak and weary, a life giver breathes strength back into you.

They bring joy to your heart. They are someone who sees the positives in life, and the good in people. Life givers provide an electric energy that recharges and reignites your soul. I once heard someone say, "We were made to gather together to care for the world." I believe this quote captures the importance and purpose of life givers.

When we gather with one another, especially with this type of person, our purpose is to care. What could be more caring than sharing our joy, presence, and life? I think it is essential that we not only surround ourselves with life givers, but that we can also be a life giver for someone else in our lives.

When I was going through a hard time, I often surrounded myself with those in my life whom I considered life givers. Granted, most people do not know when they are acting as life givers in ones life, let alone if they are life givers at all. I believe we can turn to people in many different ways and in different situations.

There are certain people in our lives we can turn to when we need a shoulder to cry on, a hand to hold, a laugh to share, etc. However, a life giver is one who encompasses each and every one of these qualities. They are someone you can rely on in every high, low, and in between. And the best part is, you don't even need to say a word to them. Their sheer presence is enough to reboot your life. They are able provide you with the love, support, and energy you need without even realizing it. Just ask them to hang out, get coffee, meet for lunch, whatever it is that will allow you to simply spend time with them.

The life givers to whom I turned provided me with a different outlook on my situation. Instead of focusing on the negative things going on in my life, I was able to realize the positive things in my life through their energy and presence. I believe God hand picks and places these life givers in our own, specific lives. When I was unable to escape my negative thoughts, God provided me with a life giver just when I needed one the most. If you feel like God is trying to place these people in your life, don't ignore them, embrace them. In the same light, if you feel God is calling you to act as a life giver in someone else's life, do so. As much as we think we think we can be independent and handle life by ourselves, we can often find ourselves lonely. In the dark times in our lives, we can find that our hearts are longing for a light. And that is exactly why God has blessed us with the powerful presence of life givers.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
