To pay, or not to pay, that is taxation:
Should it be wiser to give away your keep,
The greens and silvers of your working fortune,
Or to withhold it all in place of your vote,
Of your representation? To vote: to say;
Just so; and by a vote to say we share
The beliefs from our country's many voices
That strive to be heard, it's a necessity
Profoundly desired. And yet, to pay;
To pay: perhaps to lose: ah, there it is;
For in those few dollars or cents extra
When we have fallen short with no phone or card,
Yet can still vote: that's the struggle
That gives taxation a very gray name;
For who would pay the heavy weight that's due,
America's price, the voter's sole ticket,
The scoff from the rich folk, the poor's downfall,
The small teabag that led to our freedom
From England and thus raised the way-too-tall bar,
When they should let the represented pay
With their good judgment? Who would voters choose,
To cast and hope their dues go toward best,
But have their choice for someone at the post,
The represented chosen for their plan
Most voters deem worthy, cause them regret
And raise the taxes to make us all poor
Then have them lowered to make us all sane?
These taxes depend on us to fail us;
In that each worn-out bill earned from diligence
Is then passed to a dirty pair of hands,
Misrepresenting a dollar's true meaning
With a blind eye belittle the payers,
And lose the will of voters.
