When your in high school you get made fun of because you have something someone else doesn't. Higher grades, better clothes, a boyfriend whatever it may be. However, in college everyone could care less. In high school when you heard "summer school" people thought, "oh your dumb" or "oh you must be a trouble maker" even though it wasn't the case. People have there opinions and you know what that's okay. Then there's college. When you pray your a 'nerd' because things get a heck of a lot harder. The ways you use to learn, to study, to spend your time, don't work anymore. But I was always a 'nerd' so I did okay. I learned right away no matter how hard you plan things don't always go your way, God likes to surprise you. Just because it isn't what you planed you don't stop. You don't give up. So, I go to summer school. I do summer school every year for several reasons.
1. It's better for my GPA. We ALL have that one class that you didn't do as well as you thought you would in.
2. Time. You get more time to focus on those classes that might not be so easy.
3. Why not? Lets face it unless you have to work there's not much productivity going on during summer. The less productive, the less active you are physically and mentally the less you know.
4. I like it. I love school, I love the fact that I get the privilege to learn something new everyday. Where in other countries a grown person has never even seen the inside of a classroom, or read a book. I'm grateful for the opportunity to grow and to expand my knowledge and share what I know beyond just myself.
So instead of staying home to binge....
Get up and educate yourself. Being a 'nerd' isn't a bad thing it's a great thing. You'll figure out how to plan. How to manage your time better. You'll feel good knowing your on track and ahead of the time. So, when obstacles come you'll be ready to face them head on. So, be yourself if you love education then take classes! Read that book! Have no shame in your brain! Flaunt that knowledge in the best way possible, share it!
Go out and teach, tutor, mentor in the summer if that's what tickles your fancy! Find what makes you happy and learn all you can. That's also how you find careers, your major, and maybe someone to spend your life with. So do what makes you happy, don't dumb yourself down in fear. Don't let anyone put you down for being you. And most importantly don't put down others if they don't know as much as you in your subject, because lets face it they know more than you in there favorite subject! Everyone has something they want to share and something they've yet to learn. Go out and learn it!
