This political race is an important one for us Millennials who are close to post grad and going out into the scary corporate world of America.Unfortunately, there are slim pickings in this year's race to the White House. The candidates are filled with hate, lies, and worst of all, as "politician" as it gets.
I was never one for politics. I love history and I love learning about America as well as exploring new cultures, but politics never tickled my fancy. There's something so fake about someone trying to get the whole nation to love them and to support their views. I mean, have you ever watched Scandal? I have never seen eye to eye with either popular political party and I have never truly felt passionate about one candidate or the other. So, ironically, just when it is my time to study up on politics and finally become a person contributing to society, there are two of the worst people running for President of the United States.
As if I didn't already hate politics, these two candidates don't make it easy for me to change my mind and broaden my intellectual horizon. They are both filled with so much hate and lies that I don't even know which one is better. I'd love to say I'd route for Hillary and see a woman represent our country, but there is something I just don't trust about her. Maybe it's the fact that she has been a politician her entire life and she seems so fake. I really just hate politics.
This isn't a rant, however. This is an article to help Millennials realize that we are all about to be out there in corporate America and contributing to society. And as exciting as that will be, there might be someone in office who could make these next four years of what's supposed to be an exciting transition, a hard one. To have someone filled with so much hate in the office could be detrimental to our entire society. When you look at our past Presidents they are very different than our candidates today. Although we are trying to modernize our society and have new types of people in office, history tends to repeat itself and maybe there was a reason we kept certain types of people in the office.
By that I don't mean a man (I'd love for a woman to be President). I just mean that having a billionaire who can't respect the people of America or having a life-long politician who has been caught in so many hypocritical lies as President of the United States is probably not a good idea. But, what do I know about politics I'm just a 20 year old college student who studies Marketing and Advertising. Maybe the next race I will actually be able to invest my time and studies into politics and who I believe will truly Make America Great Again.
