There you sat with shaking hands, tears in your eyes, and a broken heart. She left you. She shattered your whole world in a matter of seconds, and in that moment, you thought you would never be able to give your heart to another human being again.

I bet you asked yourself over and over again why she did that to you. Why she spent so much of her time telling you that you had her whole heart and she wanted to be with you forever, then one day stopped calling. I bet you asked yourself every day for months what you did wrong. I bet you asked yourself what you did to deserve that gut-wrenching, earth-shattering, jaw-dropping, indescribable pain.

I bet you never knew that there was a reason for it. That there was a reason for those late nights getting drunk, crying, and feeling hopeless without her.

As harsh as it sounds, I’m glad she broke your heart. I’m glad her selfish perspective drove you two apart and ruined your world for a period of time. For now, it is my turn to piece you back together and show you what it is supposed to feel like to be loved unconditionally and wholeheartedly by another human being.

When you let your walls down that you ever so carefully plastered up with the cement of time, and slowly told me what she did to you, my hurt actually hurt for you. Anger flooded my veins knowing that someone had the audacity to treat you that way. It took some time for me to wrap my mind around the fact that someone could do something so cruel to a living, breathing, human. But let me tell you, if she hadn’t done those things, I wouldn’t have found my best friend.

It may sound dark and selfish, and I am truly sorry that you had to go through that, but look where it led you. Straight into my open, loving, and comforting arms. Arms that will always hold you at night, and wrap around you for a heart-warming embrace every time we see each other. It lead you to a heart that will always forgive you, and will never run out of room to love you every second of every day. It lead you to hands that will always grasp onto yours to show that I will never let go. It lead you to my lips which will go every day listing off things I admire about you, and covering you with kisses. It lead you to my ears which will always be there to hear you out in any situation, good or bad. It lead you to my eyes which perceive you as the most genuine person to ever walk the face of the earth.

Her egotistical and simple-minded decisions may have caused a lot of pain for you for a decent amount of time, but I hope it was worth it. For I am here to shower you with love and show you what it feels like to be loved unconditionally.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
