It's Totally Okay To Already Be In The Christmas Spirit, And Here's Why
ICCUB Christmas Meeting

I ushered in November by finishing watching my first Christmas movie at 12:01 a.m. on November 1st. And I am definitely not ashamed. All of October, I hear "but it's not even Halloween!" and all of November, I hear "but it's not even Thanksgiving!" I understand that. Your point is?

As I told my friends--November 1st through the 23rd is Christmas. November 25th and 26th are all Thanksgiving. But come November 27th, it's all Christmas, all the time. So here's a few reasons as to why it is totally acceptable to start celebrating "The Most Wonderful Time of the Year" the day after Halloween.

1. Um, hello... Christmas shopping can't be done in just a month!

It's never too early to start buying Christmas presents! Plus, if you spread out your Christmas shopping, it won't be as painful when you total how much all of your presents have costed you. And, if you're a DIYer, you need to get started, like, yesterday.

2. Christmas music is upbeat and motivating.

Irritated or angry? Christmas music will make you chipper. Sad? Christmas music will make you happy. Need to clean the house? Nothing is more motivating than singing along to your favorite Christmas song at the top of your lungs. Christmas music is a cure-all for any and every ailment.

3. There is an abundance of must-see Christmas movies.

Plain and simple--there are just too many Christmas movies to watch in just the month of December. Elf, Christmas Vacation, Santa Claus 1, 2, and 3... the list is never ending.

4. Realizing Christmas is only 51 days away...and so is a break from school!

No matter how long your winter break is, it's definitely the thing you look forward to most from day one of classes. And realizing that it's less than 50 days away makes school suddenly seem so much more manageable.

5. Special Christmas flavors after Halloween.

Pumpkin spice might be nice, but Christmas coffees and drink are better. Apple cider, hot chocolate, peppermint anything, egg nog, gingerbread lattes... Nothing, I repeat nothing, will beat the flavors of Christmas.

6. Christmas Lights!!!

Does this one even need an explanation? Not much beats the glorious sight of Christmas lights.

7. Because there are tons of fun Christmas-y things to do come November.

Haunted houses may be right up your alley, but think of all the fun things to do during Christmas! Ice skating, caroling, sledding, trimming the tree... much like the movies, the list of things to do goes on and on!

8. Finally, because Christmas truly is "The Most Wonderful Time of the Year."

Christmas is a time of love, kindness, celebration, and beauty. How can you not want to start celebrating this magical holiday as soon as possible?

Now, excuse me while I go watch Elf for the 50th time, wrap up in my reindeer blanket, and drink my hot cocoa!

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
