The world can be a scary place. There are so many things in this world that we fear. When we think of fears, what comes to mind are things like bugs and snakes. We also think of controlled fears, like roller coasters, bungee jumping, and haunted houses. These are not the fears I’m talking about. I’m talking about the things we can’t control.
The things we can’t see coming.
I’m afraid to live in a world where people are shot, for no reason, walking down the road.
I’m afraid to live in a world where police officers are killed just because they are trying to do their job, and protect us.
I’m afraid to live in a world where bombs go off at concerts to target women and children.
I’m afraid to live in a world where people are killed just because they have an opinion that is different.
I’m afraid to live in a world where terrorism is running rapid, and there isn’t really anything we can do about.
I’m afraid to live in a world where our “united” country is so divided, that’s not even funny.
These fears are real, but we can’t center our lives around them. If we allow ourselves to live in fear all the time, then what’s the point in doing anything? I would hate to live my life in fear. I may be afraid of these things but I’m not afraid of living.
