Sometimes, life can be hard. With academic responsibilities, a balanced social life and finding time to be healthy, there are a lot of sources of pressure that can sway a college student's decision making. But what if Ron Swanson helped you out in that arena? Whenever you had a tough time debating whether or not you should go out, if you should bypass the pizza and just have a salad, or if you should catch up on your reading despite the amazing weather, don't stress. Just ask Ron.
You can't decide if you should confront someone who just cut you in line.
Ron says: Be assertive with your life and do it.
During a meeting for your group project, your fellow classmates are trying to come up with an idea for your project theme. Everyone is throwing out ideas, but you don't like any of them. Should you speak up or go with the flow?
Ron says: Life is short. Speak your mind or you're an idiot.
You are having a great time out with friends on a Friday night. Part of you thinks you should turn in early because you have an exam on Monday, but the other part wants to stay out and forget about school. What do you do?
Ron says: Trust the other part. Once you leave college, you just go to work hating your life and wondering when it's time to go home and eat some steak.
You are out to dinner at your favorite restaurant. You have not eaten much, today, because you have been saving yourself for their amazing chicken pesto pasta. Finally, the waiter comes to take your order and tells you they ran out of pesto for the night. Aghast, you think of what else you can order even though pesto is all your heart desires. How do you act in this situation?
Ron says: Are you kidding? You are absolutely entitled to have a meltdown. Flip the table over, demand they make more. This is food we're talking about.
Your roommates want to have a party at your house, but you are battling the flu and a load of homework to make up. In theory, you could avoid all the noise and the crowds and post up at the library all day and night. But you would much rather alternate reading one chapter of Econ with one episode of House of Cards on Netflix -- all while in your bed. Do you let the roommates have their fun or make them wallow with you in your self-pity?
Ron says: It's your land, too. Demand they reschedule. That way, you get to enjoy your bed and you won't miss out. Your feelings come first. Always.
You wake up one morning trying to forget all the questionable decisions you made last night. Your head is killing you and you don't know if you will ever smile again. That is, unless you get food immediately. You beg your friends to go to brunch with you, but they all claim they have more pressing obligations and don't have time. Do you settle for cereal?
Ron says: No. What a stupid question. Your friends can go to class next Friday. Go get the breakfast food you deserve.
Maybe Ron Swanson is not always the best moral compass. But if you are looking for an easy way out of a tough decision that will pretty much always end in your favor, look no further. Ron Swanson is your way out.
