There are many different circumstances where you may be a little discouraged and just completely want to crawl into your pillow and scream. But if there is one thing I have learned as a student at Bridgewater State University is that, if you don't succeed at first, try, try, try again!
Walking into college, no one tells you all the disappointments you'll endure. From not getting that class on registration morning after you made sure you were up and typed in the CRN's as fast as you could, or applying for an on-campus job and not getting it. Maybe you stayed up all night studying for that midterm for sociology and you didn't get the grade you wanted to. No one ever prepared us for what the future would hold. They never trained you in high school on how to deal with your emotions when you got your hopes way up high, just to get let down. Your parents never warned you that you could sign up for recruitment and not get a bid. They never prepared you for the after-effect of nailing that interview but still not getting the job. This is all stuff we just have to learn to overcome.
You know what else they probably never told you? Don't give up. Just because you don't get that class this semester, you can always email the teacher and make them aware that you are completely interested in this course and you want to try to get in the class next year. Maybe that on-campus job just filled up and it wasn't the right one for you anyone. I'm sure you can bring that grade up because now you know what to expect from the final! Try going out for recruitment again, I'm sure someone will love you and the fact that you simply NEVER GAVE UP! You tried and tried again until you got what you deserved.
A quote I have lived by since I was a child is by a famous little fish named Dory, "When life gets you down you wanna know what you gotta do. Just keep swimming, just keep swimming, just keep swimming." I have learned throughout college that this is one of the silliest but most realistic quotes a child could grow up and live by. I have endured many scenarios that I wanted to give up on, but if it is something I have a passion for, I'll just have to try again next time. I always think to myself the things I can do better next time, or the opportunities that can replace this one! If you don't get one job, are you going to give up there? NOPE; there are so many other opportunities that could be happening for you at this time. Everything happens for a reason and you just have to think of the positives. As Chance The Rapper would say, "Don't forget the happy thoughts, all you need is happy thoughts."
