So last Monday I sat for three and a half hours and watched "The Bachelor" season finale. Normally I laugh at all the catty interactions between the girls that are obviously staged or instigated by the producers, but this season I got emotionally invested. That is the first rule of "The Bachelor": don't get invested. If your favorite doesn't win, then you may be an emotional wreck. So don't let yourself have feelings.
Honestly, this is the first "Bachelor" season I have watched since Sean Lowe back in 2013. I have not been impressed with the leads: Chris Soules (2015) was a farmer looking for a housewife to live in his town of approximately five people - so that was an obvious no, and Juan Pablo (2014) was incredibly hard to understand, not because of his accent, but because he couldn't formulate a proper sentence - so that wouldn't have worked well.
Then came Ben Higgins (2016). He has been promoted as America's "favorite" bachelor all season, and I must say, I would totally have gone on the show (okay, probably not) just to meet this handsome man. No seriously...he's perfect. *Has heart palpitations.*
This got me to thinking...would I ever go on this show? HAHA...never. But what if I did? I would like to think that I would not allow myself to go crazy (though apparently you aren't even allowed to read books while on the show) nor would I allow myself to say something that could get edited and make me look like a crazy person (though it's happened before on past seasons.) We really don't know what goes on when you're in that mansion and you and approximately 24 other girls are all pining over the same hot guy. I guess that's the interesting part - anything can happen.
Here's what I imagine life on "The Bachelor" would be like if I was a contestant.
1. First night - You Get a Rose. Apparently these ceremonies can go late into the evening, and even carry onto the next morning. All that standing - just for a rose...and I don't even like roses.
2. You wake up in the mansion, roll out of bed, come downstairs (it's 8:30 AM) and all the other girls are already decked out in eight layers of makeup. You're supposed to be ready by 9:00...

3. You are told you are going on a date with fourteen other girls and to wear athletic clothing. You hate physical activity, so this should be fun.
4. Time has flown by. You've made it to week three. Some girls are starting some drama and ask you for your opinion. You don't even know one of their names.
5. It's week four and you are told to pack your bags because you're going to Mexico. YES.
6. You get a one-on-one date and you start to catch feelings for the actual Bachelor. THIS CAN'T BE REAL.
7. You realize you don't like feelings and give yourself a pep talk. Love is not found on a reality show.
8. It's the week before hometowns and the possibility of introducing your family to a guy you just met...on television...is causing you some concern. You think it's time to make your exit.
9. You pull the Bachelor away and instead of professing your love like every other girl, you decide to try something different. You think he's a babe, but he isn't 'the one.'
10. You come back for the Women Tell All and you're deemed the "first girl in Bachelor history to ever leave the leading man because you didn't see a future with him." So you're a legend.
In reality, if I went on this show, I would likely not get a rose on the first night and get sent packing. That would probably be a blow to the ego, but I'd like to think I would get decently far because I actually am emotionally stable. Who knows though, maybe I would fall in love with the Bachelor, especially if it was Ben. Then I might end up looking like this girl (please no).
You really hate to see that. But also, I truly cannot stop watching this.
Tell me, would YOU ever go on "The Bachelor"?
