If It's Not Me, It Still Won't Be You

The side chick epidemic.

What is a side chick you ask? A side chick is a woman who is involved with a man romantically, while that man is in a relationship with another female. In this situation there could be two possible wrong characters. The man is wrong (aren't they always), and the side chick could possibly be wrong.

To be labeled as a side chick is not a very positive title, being the side chick could be something out of innocence if you do not know that that man is involved with someone else. If this is the case the accidental side chick is not in the wrong. Now if she saw hints of infidelity and didn't question them, then there's not as much pity on her. Now if this woman was fully aware of the man and his relationship with his significant other, than she deserves the title of "The Side Chick," and she is a disgrace to all women.

It does not matter if the man pursued the side chick and knew he is in a relationship, men are dogs and that is what is expected of them. Now as a woman you should know the difficulties of dealing with men, and see that it is already hard enough without dealing with a third party in the relationship. As a woman you should respect their relationship, even if the home is already broken, that does not give you the right to step into it or break it up even more.

Then there are the proud side chicks who have really become more popular. The woman who boasts about it, and puts it all over social media, and makes songs about being the other woman. What satisfaction does one get out of breaking up another relationship, and being the second choice. Then when the other woman confronts the side chick, the woman has the nerve to defend herself like she is in the right. Like Tammy Rivera (Rapper Waka Flocka's significant other) said "Even if it's not me, it's still not going to be you boo."

The side chick is ultimately harming herself in the end because you are falling for someone who is already tied to another person, so in the end there is a large possibility that the man is going to pick his main woman, leaving the side chick hurt and felt as if she wasted her time.

The song "Piece of Your Love" by local R&B artist iBeFoolyn chorus says, "Can I have a piece of your love, Tell you B**** I like you, F*** she going to do, when she see's me with you." Then it's not only women glorifying the Side Chick epidemic, men have done it as well with the song "Pulling Up," by The Weekend and Meek Mill, or the song "Boyfriend Number 2," by Pleasure P. In the song "Pulling Up," it says "Tell your man to wait inside when I'm pulling up" repeatedly, and "Boyfriend Number 2" says in the intro, "I don't mind being the dude on the side."

So this is a dog eat dog world, neither sex is right. Men have their side pieces while women could have their's as well. Having a person on the side is not a way out, it does not help the relationship; it hurts it even more. If the relationship gets to the point where a third party needs to be brought in, just end it with your significant other, so no infidelity is involved....it's that simple.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
