7 Things I Would Do If I Had Magic Powers

Almost everyday something happens or I think of something that I desperately wish I could just wave my finger and make better. Sadly this is not how life works but a girl can dream. If I could control or fix anything in my life or for the people around me, this is what I would do.

1. Heal myself and others.

Between my struggle with Lyme disease and anxiety, every day I pray for it all to just magically go away. Enough with all of the appointments and enough with the worry. I dream of a day where I wake up and feel no pain and not one negative thought races through my mind. If I could change anything, first I would make myself completely physically and mentally healthy.

Being able to heal the people close to me would be even better. I would never have to worry about them getting sick, because I could fix them just like that.

2. Protect the people I love.

I worry way too much about something bad happening to the people I care about. If I had magic powers I would put a protective spell over all of my friends and family that protects them from anything hurting them. The only way they would die would be through old age, when it comes their time.

3. Get rid of all bad people.

Something I would enjoy doing is ridding the world all of the people who make it a scary place. All of the racists, killers and animal/child abusers would evaporate into thin air. There is no need for people like that and the world would be a much better place without the fear and pain they induce. I wonder what a world without them would be like.

4. Bring back people who went too soon.

I do believe that everyone has their time but I know a lot who died too young. I would go back in time and change what I needed to to keep them here. Losing someone close to you hurts and I know how it can affect the people who loved them. I would choose to stop that pain.

5. Make everyone I care about happy.

I pray most nights and when I do, I say "Please keep them all safe, healthy and happy." referring to the special people in my life. I say happy because I feel that it is just as important as being healthy and safe. I hate to see my parents, sisters or boyfriend upset or anxious. If I had any control over that, I would make them happy all of the time. Not cocky or obnoxious, just peacefully happy inside.

6. Be able to talk to animals.

If I could talk to animals, I could find out how they are doing so I could help them if they need it. I have had pets my whole life and it can be really hard to take care of them because they can't tell you what they need. I would love to be able to ask them if they are feeling sick or if they are happy.

7. Make everyone in the world go green.

In my life right now I can't make everyone care about the environment, but if I had powers I definitely would. I get so frustrated seeing people who don't care about recycling, using green bags instead of plastic and all of these corporations sending pollution into the air and into the sea. I would make everyone all of a sudden care and the planet would start to heal.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
