Friends is most popular for the modge-podge of personalities of its six main characters.
With the 20th anniversary of the first episode of this popular sit-com, it is clear that Friends is just as loved now as it was then. People still try to judge which main character they would represent in their own friend groups, by comparing their own eccentric personalities. With the unique personas found within sorority chapters, it’s easy to see the similarities between them and Rachel, Monica, Phoebe, Joey, Chandler, and Ross.
The Monica. This girl is the clear-cut definition of a type-A personality. She’s most likely to be found vying for a position on the executive board or organizing next year’s philanthropic event. She tends to be a bit overbearing in her excitement to get involved in the chapter, but is one of the most lovable in her efforts to help out her sisters. If you’re looking for someone to make the dinner and pre-party arrangements for the upcoming formal, “Monica” is the girl for the job and the solution to any other problem that might arise.
The Rachel. If there was anyone less prepared for college and sorority life, it's the “Rachel.” From learning how to do her own laundry to making it to chapter and classes on time, she’s a hot mess. Her fun and charismatic personality make her a favorite within the sorority and she tends to be popular among the various fraternities. While her current priorities don’t tend to venture outside of her tiny dorm closet, or her most recent fling, she’s slowly, but surely, getting herself together.
The Phoebe. there was adjective to describe this girl, it would be quirky. She’s one of the people you try to sit with during a long chapter meeting just to scheme how to get out of the work for the Homecoming float or other mandatory events. She might not be the brightest crayon in the box, but tends to make her own dim-witted actions the source of her hilarity. Her fun-loving personality and complete lack of filter make her an asset to any group.
The Joey. This is the standards committee’s biggest nightmare. She’s the one always entertaining others with the stories from her weekend activities. While her morals might be a little loose, she has one of the biggest hearts within the chapter. The “Joey” is the one who will be up for movie and pizza nights, or any kind of food break, any time and day of the week. The “Joey” doesn’t always contribute the best grades or leadership, but is always the life of the party at mixers and formals.
The Chandler. If you ever hear the hushed
sarcastic comment coming out of someone’s mouth during the start of hour two of
a sorority meeting, it was the “Chandler.” This sister’s dry wit and snarky
commentary might not be for everyone, but she can be one of the most lovable of
the group. This sister seems to always be around, whether it's for a late
night ranting session about a fellow sister, or an unfair professor. This
sister tends to mask her insecurities with comedic zingers, but always keeps a smile or smirk on everyone else’s face.
The Ross. If anyone is in a desperate need to
get their life together, it’s the “Ross.” She’s the unluckiest in love, but the
most hopeful that her next suitor could possibly be “the one.” She has a
slightly geeky persona, in her efforts with the “Monica,” to raise the house
GPA, but still manages to maintain a lovable attitude and continues to always be a great time with her friends when she isn’t hard at work. While she tries to
hold her own, her awkward character and endless stories about uncomfortable
run-ins with ex-boyfriends keep her grounded and down-to-earth.
