If 'Friends' Characters Were Colleges In Pennsylvania

On some level, you know you've pictured this...

We all know that each of the characters from "Friends" have their own unique character traits and things that make them our favorites. Now, imagine what it would be like if these characters were colleges. I took a close look at PA colleges and decided which ones would fit which characters, and each character had multiple schools that fit them.

1. Ross Geller (portrayed by David Schwimmer)

You see, Ross, because of his degree in Paleontology, is a pretty smart guy. Because he is a smart guy, I feel as though he would go to the more elite, private colleges in PA.

'Ross Geller' Schools: University of Pennsylvania, Gettysburg College, Swarthmore College

Reasons why they would be 'Ross Geller' schools: University of Pennsylvania is an Ivy-league school with very prestigious academic programs. UPenn does not offer Paleontology as a degree program (nor do Gettysburg or Swarthmore), but they do offer a degree program in Anthropology and a minor in Archaeology (as do Gettysburg and Swarthmore). While Archaeology is a study of human prehistory and history, it still has a great deal of merit, just as the work Ross would do as a paleontologist. Gettysburg and Swarthmore are also schools that I would say are 'Ross Geller' schools because of their stellar academic reputation and also because they are some of the oldest schools in the state. With Ross being the oldest of the group, the age of the school kind of plays a part as to why they would fit in as well.

2. Monica Geller (portrayed by Courtney Cox)

'Monica Geller' Schools: The Art Institute of Philadelphia, The Restaurant School at Walnut Hill College

Reasons why they would be 'Monica Geller' schools: The Art Institute of Philadelphia has an exceptional reputation for the chefs that begin their careers there. While offering three different programs in culinary arts, all three programs have a focus on sanitation and safety, as well as restaurant management. Since Monica is a compulsively neat person and has a "take-charge" attitude, having both of these skills incorporated in the program definitely has Monica written all over it. As part of its different degree programs, The Restaurant School offers courses that will help refine your palate, and even classes that will help you plan menus, and planning and organizing is one of Monica's favorite things!

3. Rachel Green (Portrayed by Jennifer Aniston)

When we initially meet Rachel, she's out on her own for the first time and she has absolutely no idea what she is doing with her life. Throughout the show, however, we see Rachel use her keen eye for the finer things and develop an amazing career out of it.

'Rachel Green' School: Drexel University

Reasons why this would be a 'Rachel Green' school: While I realize Rachel didn't have a college education, I feel as though Drexel would definitely be the school for her. Rachel, once she's found her niche, is very driven to succeed in her field (which would be Fashion Design), just like the students at Drexel University.

4. Joey Tribbiani (portrayed by Matt LeBlanc)

Now, Joey is also another member of the crew who is not college educated, but he is also very passionate about what he likes to do, which is theater and acting.

'Joey Tribbiani' Schools: Temple University, Franklin & Marshall College

Reasons why these would be 'Joey Tribbiani' schools: Both of these schools are relatively well-known in the state of PA, and even around the country, not just for their names, but for their successful programs. While Joey doesn't seem to lean too much toward the academic side of things, I feel as though in a theater program like that of Temple or Franklin & Marshall would motivate him to succeed.

5. Chandler Bing (portrayed by Matthew Perry)

When we first meet Chandler, he's working for a large multi-national corporation doing statistical analysis and data reconfiguration, and eventually, he quits that because he hates his job. After leaving statistical analysis, he begins a career in advertising.

'Chandler Bing' Schools: Villanova University, Penn State University

Reasons why these would be 'Chandler Bing' schools: Penn State and Villanova would be Chandler Bing schools because they have reputations for being fun schools, but they are also seriously dedicated to not only their students and faculty but also to the work they do and the communities they serve through their alumni. Chandler wasn't always involved in the field of advertising, but when he did get into it, even as an intern, he worked hard and he dedicated himself, just like the students at these wonderful universities.

6. Phoebe Buffay (portrayed by Lisa Kudrow)

Much like Joey and Rachel, Phoebe wasn't much into academics, mainly because she didn't have the opportunity to access them. Having lived on the street for much of her young adult life, Phoebe got more of a street education than one from books, although Ross's "Science Boy" comic helped her. If Phoebe had gone to college, I feel like she would have been a philosophy major, and I feel like she would have gone to a smaller college.

'Phoebe Buffay' Schools: West Chester University, Millersville University

Reasons why these would be 'Phoebe Buffay' schools: While almost every college offers a major in philosophy, these two smaller state schools provide a sense of community that Phoebe helped provide for her friends, and majoring in philosophy would help her meet many new people and charm them with her amazing personality and dedication to the causes she took up.

Enjoy!

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
