10 Things I Would Do If I Could Time Travel

I'd honestly probably screw something up, but it would be fun!

Lately, I have been thinking a lot about what past events I would want to experience or re-experience if I could. Of course, this is an impossibility, but the idea is fun nonetheless. From having the opportunity to experience different eras first hand to talking to influential figures, or reliving some of my most treasured memories the ability to time travel would lead to some pretty epic adventures. If I could there are ten things I would not pass up the chance to do.

1. Witness a couple monumental moments

Of course with an ability like time travel, it would be stupid of me to pass up an opportunity to see some of the events that shaped history. Maybe I would go watch the signing of the Declaration of Independence, the raising of the Pyramids or maybe the invention of the egg roll.

2. Talk to my favorite artists

It has been said that Charles Dickens hated Americans. It has also been said that based on some of his actions he truly lived up to his last name. However, if given the chance I would love to be the annoying American that asks him about his writing process and inspirations.

3. Find first editions of my favorite books

People have trouble getting me to leave a bookstore now. The bibliophile within me would be super excited to be able to see (and potentially keep) some of the worlds most talked about books in their first printing.

4. Say hello to the pets I have lost

You know when you first get home after not being there for a while, and your dog gets more excited than you thought possible. Yeah, I imagine it would be something like that, but I would be the more excited one.

5. Give some advice to my younger self

She really could have used some help, and I would love to encourage her to keep her head up, not to be too hard on herself and just keep working hard because, in the end, she has gotten everything she hoped for and more.

6. Have dinner with all of my grandparents

Grandparents tend to play important roles in people's lives, but unfortunately, I never really got to know mine. I often wonder what they were really like, and I wonder what they would think of me now.

7. See what my parents were like when they were my age

I know for a fact that my dad was a complete geek, and my mom was way out of his league. It would be awesome to be able to interact with them as peers before they stopped being real people in trade of becoming "Mom" and "Dad."

8. See what my fiance was like before I met him

I honestly cannot remember what life was like before I met him. We were both still young and trying to figure life out, but obviously a "before time" existed. Oh, what I would give to be able to witness the awkward child and early teenage version of the boy I love.

9. Watch myself fall in love all over again

My love story is one that started when I was 15. There were ups and major downs, but knowing that it has led me to where I am, makes me want to watch it all over again.

10. Probably screw something up

And yeah, let's face it if I had the ability to time travel I would probably, unintentionally of course, royally screw something up. That’s always how it goes, isn’t it?

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
