Bridesmaids is, arguably, one of the greatest movies released since Mean Girls. It is one of those movies you can watch over and over again, laughing harder each time. You have probably watched it so many times you can quote it! You have probably watched it so many times you can perform each scene with perfect line deliverance and emotion. Each time you watch it, you think, “Oh, my gosh! That is so me!”
In reality, this is who Bridesmaids would really be if they were your sorority sisters...
Annie, the loveless wine drinker. This is the girl who always wants a boyfriend so badly that her whole life falls apart if she cannot find her true love in the basement at a frat party. Thursday through Sunday nights, she is on the prowl, and she is usually the one who is wine-drunk. Things she might say: “I really thought he was different! How come no one remembers giving me their number?!”
Lillian, the Mrs. This girl is the one you expect to blow out the candle at candlelight. She is in a serious relationship, and you know she is going to get married before you even have the time to remember the last time you went out on a date. Things she might say: “You’ll find the one some day! I think I’m just going to go home tonight. I haven’t seen my boyfriend all day.”
Megan, the maybe-too-outgoing party animal. This is your Thirsty Thursday confidante! I mean, she practically created The Bowl. She is the life of the party, and she can’t be tamed. People follow her on Instagram just to see what it’s like to have so many friends. Things she might say: “When did you leave last night? I don’t do Friday classes.”
Ellie, the goodie two shoes. This is the girl you wish you would run into at a frat party -- the girl who studies more than she sleeps and never misses a class. Her cheerfulness in the morning even makes your bed head and smeared makeup feel ashamed. Things she might say: “Are you ready for that test next Friday? Are there any volunteer opportunities available?”
Helen, the rich friend. This is the girl you think you want to be, until she starts crying because she can’t be perfect anymore. This is the girl who wears name brand clothes for every event but still orders t-shirts anyway just so she fits in. Things she might say: “Do you want to go shopping? If you come with me, I’ll buy you something.”
Rita, the experienced friend. You name it, she’s done it. And she always looks good doing it. Things she might say: “Yeah, he was boring. Does this bandage skirt make my butt look big enough?”
These friends make our lives interesting and help us learn more about ourselves. Go thank them for being who they are.
