Bagels, muscle tees, and lots and lots of beachside brawls...Welcome to "The O.C." Before "Gossip Girl" captivated the world with the scandals of 'Manhattan's Elite,' viewers everywhere were addicted to a totally different drama starring another set of pretty, privileged teens from Newport.
It's hard to believe that Josh Schwartz's series about the life of a troubled kid from Chino who gets taken in by a wealthy Orange County family ended over 10 years ago, airing it's finale episode airing all the way back in 2007.
Despite just lasting four seasons, "The O.C." managed to leave a permanent mark on pop culture. Not only did it introduce viewers to some killer indie music like Death Cab for Cutie, Rooney, and Phantom Planet, but it even spawned an entire reality TV empire by inspiring MTV's hit "Laguna Beach" which eventually got it's own spin-off "The Hills."
And even though the show's fashion may be dated (hello, denim minis and polo shirts) its story-lines and the friendship between the Core Four; Ryan, Seth, Summer, and Marissa, is still just as genuine and heartfelt entertainment as it was a decade ago.
So in honor of "O.C.'s" 10th anniversary, here are 10 of the greatest moments that fans will never forget:
1. When Luke delivered this truly heartfelt greeting to Ryan in the "Pilot"
But luckily Ryan soon got him back with that signature Chino sass...
2. When Seth confessed his longtime love for Summer with a public announcement on top of a coffee cart.
3. And she returned the favor and made all his nerdiest fantasies come true with this perfect Wonder Woman costume.
4. When Julie Cooper earned the title of WORST MOM EVER by hooking up with her teenage daughter's high school boyfriend.
5. Ryan and Marissa's first meeting in the driveway after summer's beach house party
6. Marissa's many, many public breakdowns
From her first O.D. in Tijuana....
To this classic poolside meltdown
7. Seth managing to be even more adorkable than usual by creating the greatest double holiday in existence.
8. When Marissa shot Trey and the soundtrack made everything extra dramatic.
Mmm whatcha say...
