An Ice Cream Poem

An Ice Cream Poem

What's summer without ice cream? I mean, I eat ice cream all year round, but going out for ice cream every night in the summer is acceptable. There is nothing like a cold ice cream cone on a hot beach day, and nothing better than catching up with your friends over a cup of soft serve. Because ice cream is a way of life that we all want to be living, here is a poem dedicated to it.

I went to a shop near my home

That inspired me to write this poem

I tried “U2 Crazy”

The rest is quite hazy

I developed an ice cream syndrome

I needed to test a new flavor

To see if I also would savor

The cold, tasty sweet

Of this summertime treat

And my loyalty never would waiver

I tried something new that was yummy

The name was Raisin and Rummy

I smiled ear to ear

And let out a cheer

As the sweetness arrived in my tummy

There were many more flavors to try

But how many are acceptable to buy?

I sampled a few

And then I knew

That I was about to have an ice cream high

I wanted to try chocolate dip

I thought it might add a new zip

But that hard chocolate shell

Seemed to block out the smell

Of the delicious mint chocolate chip

Sprinkles, I think, are the best

They add a colorful zest

They make vanilla more cheery

And I have a theory

That ice cream prefers to be dressed

Toppings are also a must

It's like having a pie without a crust

There are so many kinds of candy

I think it's qute dandy

So I poured them all on with a thrust

If you visit the New Jersey shore

I have some advice you’ll adore

Get a Kohr Brother’s twist

So hard to resist

You’ll be desperately wanting some more

You can also try ice cream in a float

With tasty cold bubbles in your throat

As you sip the float down

It's impossible to frown

This ice cream treat gets my vote

I once got four scoops in a cone

I thought “I can’t eat this alone”

But with 2 butter brickle

And two more fudge ripple

I managed it all on my own

I once ate a banana split

It was huge but I didn't quit

With a bowl as large as me

I started to see

That I definitely had to commit

Ice cream always makes me smile

Eating a whole pint is worthwhile

I scarf it all down

I'm going to town

Now I have to run a mile

You can also try a technique

That makes ice cream oh so unique

There are all different kinds

Make up you own minds

Something new each day of the week

On Saturday you might partake

In a perfectly blended milkshake

you could try a sundae

With whipped cream on Monday

And on Tuesday topped off with some cake

A banana split Wednesday sounds nice

on Thursday mix with water ice

(That makes a "Gelati"

Which I like a lot-ty)

On Friday you might try this twice

On Sunday, you could be inclined

To try four or five flavors combined

You might invent something new

An ice cream breakthrough

An odd flavor that might blow your mind

Ice cream deserves an award

Inside us ice cream strikes a chord

Without it we'd be lost

The sweetest flavor of frost

With ice cream we'll never be bored

I think it is time now to stop

And invite you to find your own shop

Where the ice cream is creamy

And your summer is dreamy

With a whipped cream and a cherry on top

Ice cream is unlike any dessert. It's cold and creamy and comes in every flavor you can imagine. You can get it in a cookie cone, or a pretzel cone, or a sugar cone or even just a plain old cup. It's a tasty treat in the summer, fall, winter and spring, and is something you can always love at any age.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
