When running, I will go several hours with nothing to entertain me but my own thoughts. In today's ever connected society, this time alone is an anomaly. Therefore, people are curious about how I pass the time. Well, I develop ridiculous theories about life. One of the most unusual is you, me and pi.
Pi has a never ending decimal representation and never settles in to a permanent repeating pattern. Therefore it is infinitely long and within the decimal representation every combination of numbers possible. Including all binary code. Which means pi literally could have predicted everything to have ever happen and ever will happen. It also contains all future possibilities. There is the binary code for the world ending tomorrow and a world utopia being created today. Anything is possible within pi. Even a romantic you and I.
It is common practice to make a wish at 11:11. According to Wikipedia, it is done because "Some numerologists believe that events linked to the time 11:11 appear more often than can be explained by chance or coincidence. This belief is related to the concept of synchronicity. Some authors claim that seeing 11:11 on a clock is an auspicious sign. Others claim that 11:11 signals a spirit presence. The belief that the time 11:11 has mystical powers has been adopted by believers in New Age philosophies." While probably hopeful thinking, the act is kind of like praying, what's the harm?
Whenever I happen to catch a 11:11 on the clock, I wish for us to work out in the end. At 3:14, I also wish but a little harder. I look at pi with its repeating pattern and see the infinite possibilities for us it contains. It contains every possible outcome for us. There's the code for us never moving beyond friends, you breaking my heart, me breaking your heart (less likely), and my favorite, us being together forever.
We probably will never be a couple. However, it brings a smile to my face to think there is a code to show us how it all would have turned out. Pi contains a romantic comedy for our love story.
