I Spent the Night With Aaron Carter

Aaron Carter makes his stop in Indianapolis during his Wonderful World Tour. We were lucky enough to interview him and photograph the show!

I Spent the Night With Aaron Carter

Used to living the lavish lifestyle, Aaron Carter is extraordinarily down to earth. Now don’t get me wrong, the man has the famous “LV” logo tatted on his right hand; but meeting him was actually a surprising breath of fresh air. I never expected an artist that started in the industry at the young age of six to be as “normal” as Aaron Carter is (to put it a little bit in to perspective for you all, he is still just 26).

Sharmaine Nepomuceno, a fellow Odyssey writer, went along with me for my long-awaited trip to Indy. We were immediately introduced to Aaron Carter’s publicist, Lori when we arrived at the venue at 6 pm, only to be told our interview had been moved from 6 pm to 9 pm. However, we couldn’t really be mad because of the next thing Lori said: Aaron hadn’t eaten dinner yet because his sound check was running late.

For some reason that statement made him seem like actual human. Celebrities are just like us: they eat too! Sharmaine and I waited around the venue until finally 9 o’clock rolled around, and we were escorted out back to Aaron Carter’s tour bus. We got the interview on camera as well as pieces of his show afterward.

With Aaron Carter sitting between Sharmaine and I, it felt as though we were just hanging out and catching up with an old friend more than conducting an interview. While I have not interviewed many celebrities, Carter has to be one of the most down to earth of them all.

A man dedicated to his fans, he says that he wasn’t even really excited for all the places he will see while on tour as much as reconnecting with all of his fans. He may have expensive taste, and his dinner plate at a restaurant may contain the most expensive items on the menu, but Aaron Carter is a man of great strength and determination.

During the interview, he mentioned being taken out of school at seven years old. He backed himself up though, saying he is really an intellectual individual and related to many established men.

Carter went on during his interview, which ended with a hug goodbye and a selfie for Instagram! As Sharmaine and I stepped out of his tour bus, completely starstruck, he added that we were allowed to go anywhere that we wanted during his show to capture the best photographs for the Odyssey.

Boy did he mean it; he made sure to flirt with our cameras ALL night long. Constantly looking right at my lens for the perfect shot. That’s another thing I learned about him: he is obsessed with what he does.

I have been to many shows in my 21 years, and I am not exaggerating when I tell you Aaron Carter has more passion for entertaining than any artist I’ve seen live. Just watching him made me love his music. I could tell by the look in his eyes and the smile on his face that he did not want to leave the stage! Carter even teased his fans with a mid show serenade and an encore song at the end! The audience couldn’t get enough!

This night was definitely one for the books, and Aaron Carter will never forget Indianapolis that’s for sure. Aaron is in full-blown come back mode, people, and he’s not quitting for anything! You would be smart to put him on your, “2014 artists to watch” list.

His Wonderful World Tour is just kicking off. Carter and his crew will be visiting at least 80 cities, ending in Milan. Be sure to catch this star before he crosses the great seas! You will not regret it!

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
