Hush Your Mouth And Open Your Mind

Just like many of you, I love my phone. My five most-used social media apps are Snapchat, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Kiwi (in no specific order). Before becoming a content Creator at Odyssey, I had seen and read quite a few articles that had been shared from people from different places across the states so far.

Odyssey is a public platform in which content creators get to express themselves freely on topics of their choices. Odyssey offers an opportunity for me to get my voice heard. I get to write about platforms I’ve created, such as #BeBrave, for anti-hate awareness, and #ShareASmile for spreading positivity. She explained how she found my content online and thought I’d be a good fit as a Creator at Odyssey. With no rush, I was able to make my decision, and here I am.

Unfortunately, since Five Towns College became a community on Odyssey, there has been some negativity. It's such a shame that putting your ideas and thoughts out into the world is frowned upon. So, I've decided to turn that frown upside down, help those who are uneducated on the subject and explain, in my words, what I believe Odyssey is all about. I hope you enjoy the read!

At Odyssey, Five Towns College has become one of the newest communities for writers to reach out to an audience of over 70 million monthly readers.

Among the many benefits, writing and reading are things we’ve been taught to do for basically our entire lives. Both activities have been proven to stimulate the mind, expand vocabularies, enhance memory, strengthen analytical thinking skills, and provide free entertainment.

I've read, “Writing regularly online helps you to build an audience who is interested in what you have to share, and how you can help them. This is good for any business, anyone who is building a career, anyone who loves to socialize with others who are interested in similar things as them."

You can find articles on sports, politics, love, etc. Odyssey relates to, and is viewed by, over 70 million readers in just one month. Writers, more commonly known as “content Creators” are given the wonderful opportunity to build an online audience. Readers are able to follow creators and share the links to articles they appreciate. As for anyone else, they can simply click off the site, and continue their days.

Take the negativity elsewhere.

Nowadays, we pretty much all have at least one social media account. Whether they are public or private, we all get the gist of it. There’s haters. They’re everywhere!!! Forget them. After all, supporters are the ones who truly matter. Do what you want! Live the life you want. Write what you want, speak what you want. #BeBrave and be you!

I love spreading positivity. I have so many great ideas for the future, I can’t wait to see them come to life. Writing for Odyssey is awesome. I get to write on my own time, about anything I want.

There are relatable topics all over Odyssey. There are many people who may not have anyone to speak to about their problems or get advice from. Among the 12,000+ content creators, I can promise, you’ll find someone out there facing the same obstacles, sharing the same thoughts/opinions, or even listening to the same music as you! If Odyssey is helping people to connect with others, then what’s the harm? Hush your mouth and open your mind!

Writing for an interesting, fun, public platform, there is potential for any Creator to build an audience and interact with readers. The skills you acquire from creating a successful profile, let alone the benefits from writing on a public forum, improve your resume by far!

These are just my words though, and clearly, people don't always see eye to eye when it comes to positivity these days. For more information, please feel free to visit: http://about.theodysseyonline.com

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
