Hurricane Patricia was the most powerful tropical cyclone to ever be recorded being one of only a few Category 5 Hurricanes ever to make landfall. At it's peak Patricia sustained over 200 mile an hour winds and pressures around 890 millibars. Patricia made landfall near Cuixmala, Mexico on October 23rd at 6:15 p.m. where winds were reported to be around 165 miles per hour. Luckily Patricia soon slowed down as it entered into the mountainous regions in central Mexico which helped some of Mexico's largest cities evade eminent destruction. Rainfall was extremely heavy and caused flooding and numerous amounts of mudslides, additionally the fast winds caused heavy damage to communities on Mexico's coastline.
Somehow Hurricane Patricia did not cause any recorded deaths anywhere. Mexico's rugged and mountainous terrain was able to save numerous lives and limited damage to just major flooding, landslides, power outages, and damaged homes and trees. The Mexican government has so far been doing all it can to help civilians to recoup from this disaster and provide relief for people whose homes were destroyed. Hopefully, people in these communities will be able to get their lives back on track and be able to go back to living in the areas they had to evacuate sooner than later.
