As I was shuffling through my country Spotify playlist the other day, I came across the song "Humble and Kind" by Tim McGraw. I have known this song for a long time, but never truly listened to the lyrics. As I was driving, I found myself actually listening to every single word in the song, and it hit me that this song is probably the most influential, motivational and inspiring songs I have ever heard.

Even though the song is slow and not as popular as some other hit country songs, the meaning can and should influence a lot of people. To be completely honest, after I listened to this song, I truly wanted to change my lifestyle, which goes to show how much of an effect the lyrics had on me. It was simply moving. I want to just highlight some of the lyrics to show people how true Tim McGraw's words are and how if more people lived the way he discusses, our social divide currently in this country my not be so negative.

The first set of lines in the song are beyond accurate. McGraw sings "Go to church 'cause your momma says to/Visit grandpa every chance that you can/It won't be a waste of time/Always stay humble and kind". This part of the song reflects more on the younger years in life when most kids are defiant and simply can not comprehend the little things that matter. McGraw proves that you must stay humble and kind because you must be grateful for all you have and because you never know when that could be taken away. Respect your elders, and it will pay off.

The last set of lines truly inspired me: "Don't expect a free ride from no one/Don't hold a grudge or a chip and here's why/Bitterness keeps you from flying/Always stay humble and kind". First of all, no one should expect a free ride from anyone. Everyone should work hard to achieve their goals and aspirations, and it should not just be handed to them. McGraw advises in the next line that instead of holding a grudge or constantly being mad at someone or something they did, sometimes you just have to let it go. It is true when he says "bitterness keeps you from flying," because when you're focused so much on someone and how they act or what they do to you, you are only hurting yourself because, more often than not, that person you constantly worry about isn't worrying about you at all; if you are less bitter, you can grow up to your fullest potential and be the person you want to be.

I guess it is safe to say that "Humble and Kind" by Tim McGraw really made me realize some important life lessons as a human. I can truly say that after listening to this song more in depth that I will live my life simply and freely while, of course, just being humble and kind and let the rest just fall into place.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
