"Whenever I meet anyone, I think of them as just another human being. Many of us face a lot of problems, the majority of which are our own creation. They arise because we focus too much on the secondary differences between us, rather than on what unites us as members of one human family. If we take all humanity into account there should be no quarrels between us." -Dalai Lama

Realize....

"Challenging the meaning of life is the truest expression of the state of being human." -Viktor E. Frankl

We are all unique and different in our own ways...

"A human being is a single being. Unique and unrepeatable." -Eileen Caddy

"Human beings, who are almost unique in having the ability to learn from the experience of others are also remarkable for their apparent disinclination to do so." -Douglas Adams

"Our lives are unique stones in the mosaic of human existence--priceless and irreplaceable." -Henri Nouwan

However we are all remarkably similar as well....

"It is human nature to think wisely, and act foolishly." -Anatole France

"Sometimes you're only human, and you learn." -Curtis Joseph

"I believe in human beings, and that all human beings should be respected as such, regardless of their color." -Malcolm X

"As human beings, we are physically, mentally, and emotionally the same. We all want a happy life and don't look for trouble, and yet many of the problems we face are of our own creation. Rely on feelings of affection." -Dalai Lama

"Human behavior flows from three main sources: desire, emotion, and knowledge." -Plato

Unification is a goal we must seek as one human race...

"We need to have a sense of oneness of humanity. We have to look at things on a human level and remember that, just as want to live a happy life, others do too." -Dalai Lama

"I love the sight of zooming out from the earth, before our very eyes countries disappear and borders fade. Humans become one among millions of living beings; I see one Earth, one Home, and one Love." -din

And never lose hope in this humanity and oneness amongst us...

"You must not lose faith in humanity. Humanity is an ocean; if a few drops of the ocean are dirty, the ocean does not become dirty." -Mahatma Gandhi

...for the differences are small between us. The tactics and ideas we separate ourselves from each other wish are nothing compared to what we can do together. Keep your faith in humanity, keep your faith in people, and keep your faith in this world. Keep faith in yourself, and see yourself as exactly what you are: human. Not perfect, human.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
