5 Reasons Hufflepuff Is Arguably The Best Hogwarts House, Despite What Gryffindors Say

Have you ever been asked,"What house are you?" when talking to your friends about Hogwarts and all things Harry Potter related? Everyone brags if they were sorted into Gryffindor, of course, but I think being a Hufflepuff is the best you could be. I'll tell you why.

1. Hufflepuffs have some of the best character traits.

Giphy

According to the infamous Hogwarts sorting hat, Hufflepuffs have some very admiring qualities. The sorting hat's song for Hufflepuff states, "They are just and loyal / Those patient Hufflepuffs are true / And unafraid of toil." They are extremely accepting and inviting people. Who wouldn't want to have a friend like that?

2. Hufflepuffs are often underestimated and seen as being the weak house, but they are quite the opposite.

Giphy

During the Battle of Hogwarts, Hufflepuff had the second most students stay to help and defend the castle. They came behind Gryffindor, who had the most amount stay and fight. This proves that the wizards produced in Hufflepuff are brave and courageous as well. It's no wonder the Goblet of Fire chose Cedric Diggory as the Hogwarts Champion to compete in the Tri-Wizard Tournament. They are intelligent, brave and, well, incredibly good-looking.

3. Hufflepuff House has produced the least amount of dark wizards than any other house.

Giphy

Having produced the fewest dark wizards warrants some respect to the Hufflepuff name. They stay true to who they are and hold themselves to the highest standards. They handle tough situations with dignity instead of turning to the dark side.

4. Two words: Nymphadora Tonks.

Giphy

If you can recall Nymphadora, brilliant hair and all, she is a bad-ass. She is a head-strong, fearless, and independent woman. She was a talented Auror and a metamorphmagus. She's the woman who had a baby and then left to go fight the dark forces at Hogwarts and ultimately died for what she believed in. And to top it off, she was a Hufflepuff.

5. Their house Mascot is a badger.

Giphy

The badger has come to be a symbol of loyalty, which is one of the Hufflepuff character traits. While a badger may not be as fierce as a lion, eagle or snake, and may be underestimated. Much like a Hufflepuff wizard, a badger is not afraid of anything. It faces danger head on all while maintaining it's cute and innocent appearance. They are calm and cool, but when provoked can be dangerous. This is why a badger is a perfect representation of a Hufflepuff.

From one Hufflepuff to another, I think we are pretty dang awesome.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
