Some people may be attached to a certain thing. It may be a blanket, camera, book, movie, boyfriend/girlfriend, or even a shirt. The list goes on and on. The thing that has captured my heart is my black high top Converse.

They have been there for me every step of the way.

From the day I got them, to this morning walking to class these shoes have been there for me every step of the way. Although I looked at them as shoes when I first got them, I have came to love them for all they have been through with me. You spill on them and run through the mud and they don’t complain. You see the scuff marks and how dirty they are and that’s why I love them so much. They tell a story, many stories in fact, and that is so intriguing to me.

They have seen good days and bad days.

They don’t judge. They just help you to get to and from your destination supporting you every step of the way. They have seen you struggle through class to get your homework done and turned in, and even been there for you for some of your best memories. For me, when I saw my sister at the sorority house when I get my bid card. Those are memories that you never forget. You may not have noticed then, but those shoes were there.

They have seen A LOT of stuff.

These shoes keep MANY MANY secrets.

They almost go with EVERYTHING.

They are the perfect versatile shoe. Any outfit. Any time. They almost always go with my outfit. If I want to dress casual, or even with a cute outfit going out on the weekends, they work with an outfit.

They are very photogenic.

Why this is a thing beats me, but it is. I am constantly snapping pics of my feet and my converse. They just really capture the moments perfectly for me. From sped up snap videos of me walking captioned “GAMEEEE DAYYYY” to my newest vsco pictures that I have posted. They just love the camera and I feel it shows my own aesthetic.

They have gone through hikes, walks to class, tailgates, and parties.

We all have that ONE pair of shoes. These black high-top shoes are definitely mine.

They aren’t just a pair of shoes. They make me who I am. They are my go-to.

Thank you black converse for walking me through my sophomore year of college. It’s been a crazy ride, but you have always been there for me for every moment. I wouldn’t have made it without you.

As I am wrapping up this article, I can’t help but notice that if you reread through this and replace Converse with best friend, it’s basically the same thing. So I guess you could say my Converse are my best friend. Well, if the shoe fits?

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
