Oftentimes we feel slightly removed from the worries of today and live a much simpler life than what our peers are concerned with daily. It's hard for us to say why we are the way we are... most times we don't even realize we are old souls until someone tells us. But once we accept it, we realize these things:

1. We love giving advice.

We could be a professional at telling others how to "do the right thing" in any situation. We seem to know just what to say, even when we haven't done it ourselves yet. Truth is, we do know, but we just don't know how we know. Sometimes we feel as if we have prophetic powers. It's a shock to us even, at what wise words come out of our mouths.

2. We love being someone people can look up to.

It brings us comfort when people admire us. We know that we have a bigger purpose and we pursue that role gladly. We love helping others achieve their goals and don't mind when people rely on us. We tend to either be friends with younger or older people.

3. We have an appreciation for old fashioned things.

We wish we could have experienced living in the 60's, our favorite movies are the classics, and oldies music makes us feel some type of way. Antique stores intrigue us and we love learning about the history of things. Sometimes we feel like we were born in the wrong era. We often times reminisce on our childhood, when life was much simpler.

4. We prefer deep connections.

Small talk isn't our fave. We'd rather get to know someone by knowing important details, rather than having half-hearted conversations. We can't bear wasting time with surface-level friends. Sometimes its even hard to connect with people at all, because we crave a deeper meaning, constantly.

5. We are always calm.

"Super chill" or "laid-back" is what we get described as at times. We don't understand unnecessary drama and never will. Sometimes we see things so much simpler in our minds, that we can't fathom why people would make things a bigger deal than they are. We see a resolution in every situation, and are always looking for the light at the end of the tunnel.

6. We've experienced a lot at a young age.

Maybe we've gone through family issues or seen things at a young age that a child shouldn't. But, it's made us grow up fast, mature sooner than others, and realize the darkness that does exist in life. Which is why we have such an optimistic look on life, now.

7. Old people are our fave.

There's just something about them. We can't quite explain it, but we love having "old people" friends. We want to drink in their wisdom and hang on their every word as they tell us stories of their youth. We could listen about their greatest accomplishments, war stories, and how they met their lover, for hours. And as much as we like old people, they tend to like us too.

8. We are excited for the future.

We can't wait to have kids, get married, and do "grown up" things. We love morning coffee, reading books on the front porch, and the peaceful quiet. Going out just because, seems pointless to us; we’d rather save our time, and money, and do something of quality. People might think we're boring, but we wouldn't want it any other way, we accept it.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
