How Williams Baptist College Has Impacted My Life

Here I am, a freshman in college. I never thought I would actually make it this far.

I go to a college called Williams Baptist College and I am a PreLaw Major.

I think that going to a christian college was probably one of the best decisions I have ever made. I have found myself growing closer to God these past two weeks and I have never met people that are so kind and genuine.

I believe that I have already found life long friends through this college.

This past week was the first week of real classes for all of us and all of the professors that I have met have been nothing but amazing to us. They understand that we are adjusting to college life and they are not just throwing us into college life.

I am on the Williams Baptist College cheer team, so I just figured that I would be friends with just the cheerleaders. I thought college would be cliquey like high school was. But it is totally different! College is not cliquey at all and I am so thankful for that.

We are all here for two reasons; to get a college degree and we are all living a God filled life.

I have found out that since I have been here that I make quite a few more trips to Walmart and Taco Bell then I rather would, but that is totally fine.

What I think I love the most about this college is that we are all on fire for God and I am not sure if anything could ever change that. We have so much fun worshiping Him and hanging out with each other.

Many students say that WillBap is either for you or it is not. I have heard that there is not really an in between.

My first weekend at college was orientation weekend and I had so much fun worshiping God and meeting new people. From having the mega relay to having Flame come here and have a concert in our gym, I could not have asked for anything better.

Although college has already been stressful, I would not take any of it back.

I would not change the late night jam sessions in the girls lobby, the cafeteria food, trying to act like I know how to play soccer and baseball, work outs, homework, 8 a.m. classes, ping pong matches, cleaning the dorms, fighting off mosquito's, chapel on Wednesday, all of the great faculty, the loving students, or missing my family for anything else.

I have found my home for the next four years and I am not sure if anything will ever amount up to the amazing people or things I have done since I have been here.

Ephesians 2:10

"For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them."

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
