How To Do Thanksgiving Right

My annual thanksgiving routine - and I can't wait.

Ladies and Gentlemen, I cannot wait for Thanksgiving Break. With exams coming up, I cannot tell you how much I need this break. Being one of my favorite holidays, Thanksgiving is a time to get together with your family and friends, gather around the table, and get fat. WHO DOESN'T LOVE THAT?! Get ready for thrills and frills (good frills) of Thanksgiving.

Step 1: Going home. University of Delaware has one great perk - they let us out November 18th, almost a week before Thanksgiving. Most students at other colleges come home the Tuesday or Wednesday the week of Thanksgiving. This gives us an advantage to fully experience the Thanksgiving Spirit.

Step 2: Seeing friends. Now that a few days have passed, your friends are now home. Personally, I have not seen my home friends since the Summer, so at this point I'm ecstatic to see them! There's something about my homies that I absolutely adore and cannot get enough of. Love you guys.

Step 2.5: Optional Step to workout. This may or may not be beneficial. But on Wednesday, it might be smart to you know, maybe do some cardio. You'll feel better about eating a lot on Thanksgiving.

Step 3: Waking up on Thanksgiving and smelling turkey. Get ready to have your sweatpants and baggy t-shirt on! In my case, my family doesn't do anything really extravagant. I suggest that for everyone getting super, uber-ly dressed to see other outside family, wear something that "gives" a little more stretch. I go hard. You should go hard too.

Step 4: Eating. I'm not kidding, I probably have 3 or 4 plates of food at dinner. Mashed potatoes, stuffing, more stuffing, turkey, gravy, corn, cornbread - the list goes on. Not to mention, DESSERT. YOU KNOW THAT THE PUMPKIN PIE IS GOING IN MY BELLY.

Step 5: Black Friday. OH BABY. Some may think that Black Friday is crazy. You hear on the news that at least 2 people get trampled in Walmart. BUT, my friends have always made it a tradition to do this. You find some cool stuff for cheap. 10/10 would recommend. Plus, when else am I ever going to get my Christmas gifts for everyone?

Step 6: Recovery. It's been a roller coaster for the past few days. It's time to recover, maybe some more cardio to lose the 5 pounds of food you ingested. Maybe just some sleep because you went out at 2 am to get some deals. Whatever floats your boat because you know that in a few days you need to go back to reality.

Well, only until Winter break comes around...

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
