If you have siblings like I do, you get the fact that with siblings comes fights but also constant love and support. If you are a twin, you probably understand that even more. If you are like my twin and me, you get that there are constant inside jokes, especially about being called each other's names. Here is a list of twenty things that show you get being a twin.
1. You are used to being called each other's names
The fact that everyone has called you the other twin's name has almost become a joke to you both. If you hear the other's name, you most certainly turn around and maybe play along until they realize they have the wrong person.
2. You have double the amounts of clothes that other's have
Because having a twin means you both most likely are the same size it's not uncommon to raid the other's drawer for a shirt or pants to borrow for a day. It also means that your clothes get mixed into each other's closets without knowing.
3. You also have an insane amount of matching clothes with them
Even at the age of 19, your parents are still convinced it's cute to buy you matching clothes. It's not uncommon to receive matching tops on Christmas or birthdays.
4. The line "What's it like having a twin?" is in everyone's vocabulary
Every stranger who has never met a set of twins or very rarely, happens to be in a state of shock that, yes, you are a twin. Your friends are constantly asking the same line.
5. You never have to worry about someone understanding you
Because being around the same person your whole life, that person has most likely seen your struggles and your successes.
6. You both tend to have a lot of the same friends
Being a twin, it's hard to leave each other's sides. You go to school together and live in the same house; so, it's not uncommon that you share many friends.
7. When the other leaves for a long time, you feel empty inside
Whether it be going away to college or just a small trip, you end up feeling extremely empty inside and unsure of what to do with yourself.
8. And when the other moves out for good, it's pure Hell
Watching as the other moves on with their life and you moving on with your life is just weird. It's like losing a little part of yourself, literally, losing a little part of who you are.
9. The constant fights
Even if you are supposed to be really close, there is always going to be a disagreement on something.
10. The shock from others when you two aren't together
Like many common beliefs, everyone seems to have it in their head that you two are constantly supposed to be by each other's sides and, when you aren't, it's like the world is ending.
11. And odds are, you both actually are always together
If you are anything like my sister and me, you two almost never leave each other's sides. We had many classes together and even went so far as to get the same job... and get promoted at the same time.
12. You both share a lot of the same interests
Being around each other must have rubbed off on the other because you both tend to enjoy a lot of the same things and I mean right down to having the same crushes at times.
13. You have nicknames for each other
Like, I call her Gabs and she calls me Nay-nay, you both have special nicknames for each other that, if you are lucky enough, stick with your friends as well.
14. You have a lot of inside jokes
Twin telepathy is a real thing as far as everyone else knows and you both have switched classes for a day and gotten away with it.
15. You know that no matter what, you two will always have each other's backs
No matter what the distance is and no matter how bad the fight is, you two will always have a special part of each other that no one else does.
