Don't let finals get the best of you!

How To Survive Finals

I can't stress how important it is to make sure you are still getting your rest during finals! Your personal wellness is always most important to maintain while in college or any stressful environment.

Once you stop taking care of yourself, you are only going to put that energy and effort into other areas like school and work.

Make sure you are constantly getting enough sleep that is a comfortable amount for you. I feel like you always hear about how you should get at least eight hours of sleep every night, but that isn't always best for you or ever realistic.

I had a job last summer that I had to clock in by 7 a.m., but I wouldn't get off until after 11 p.m. After you take a shower and do the things you need to in order to get ready for the next workday, it wasn't even possible for me to get eight hours of sleep. Surprisingly, I was comfortable and could fully function properly with at least six and a half or seven hours.

Another key point to keep in mind is to still take time for yourself. I know we all need to take large amounts of time for studying, but you should also take time to treat yourself! Now, I'm not saying take a sudden vacation to the Bahamas. Something as small as taking a thirty-minute break to watch an episode of your favorite television show is enough, and it can help a lot!

My last suggestion is to remain active in activities that relieve stress for you. Stress can harm you and your body in ways that can be long term and detrimental. It's one thing that you don't want to engage in, so try to participate in stress reliever activities.

For me, I like watching television, talking to my mom, sleeping, and laughing. I definitely try to laugh at least once a day during finals times!

Remember to care for your personal wellness, take time for yourself, and participate in stress reliever activities!

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
