I love Christmastime. It really is the most wonderful time of the year (except for my birthday, in my opinion). I love baking cookies, watching the classics like "How the Grinch Stole Christmas" or "Eloise at Christmastime," picking out a tree, going to dinners, and spending time with my family. Unfortunately, there's only so much food I can eat before I want to die and only so much time I can spend at home before I start to question my sanity. If you're anything like me, as much as you love the holidays, you're excited for your return to normalcy in January. Luckily for you (and me), I have created a list of simple things you can do to add adventure to your break.
1. Explore nature
One day, I was bored and I googled "mountains near Atlanta, GA" and just went for the first thing I saw. I'm so glad I did, because I got to visit somewhere I've never been and few people know about. It's so fun to get outside, especially if the weather is nice, and enjoy new sites. Something about nature really does my soul good.
Bonus: hiking is a workout. So grab a friend and get outside. I convinced two of my friends to go mountain climbing with me, and look how happy they are!
2. Go on a road trip
I use the term 'road trip' very loosely. Roadtripping could mean jumping in your car and driving to the beach five hours away or simply going to visit a school friend who only lives an hour away. Getting in the car with music, snacks, and companionship can be one of the most fun things in the world. One weekend, some friends and I pulled out cash and booked a hotel in Florida.

3. Get in touch with high school friends
Whether it be boys or old girlfriends, meet up with friends you used to be really close to. It's so fun to catch up with people you haven't seen in a while and reminisce about the glory days. Plus, you can spend a little time away from your family, which is necessary every now and then.
4. Watch funny YouTube videos
Whenever I am sad and missing my school life, a few funny YouTube videos always do the trick. Lately I'm loving SNL and Jimmy Fallon.
5. Read books
I've already created a huge list of books I want to read before the break is over. This is a good way to spend time without killing brain cells (looking at you, Netflix). Read something you actually enjoy for a change! Ditch the text books.
Enjoy your time home for break, because it won't last forever. Spend time with family and friends and make memories. College won't last forever either, so enjoy having the opportunity to relax (somewhat) for an entire month every Christmas.
