HOW TO ROCK BEING SINGLE ON VALENTINE'S DAY

Ladies and Gentlemen it is that time of year! The moment when all your friends who are happily in relationships gush over the gifts, flowers, and romantic ideas their significant others are planning for Valentine’s Day. While for those in love this is the time to reflect on the romantic side of the relationship, for singles it can be a harrowing, down-right depressing week (yes I said week).

However, have no fear! As a single lady, myself, I have compiled a list for those dreading the “next morning with my coworker who tells me all about his/her amazing evening” conversation.

Here are five things you should plan to do on Valentine's Day to keep your mind off the ooey-gooey relationships around you.

PS: this list is so good, your friends in relationships will be jealous.

1. Visit an Animal Shelter

No matter how unloved you feel by humans, you can't feel that way about cute, adorable puppies and kittens. They can brighten anyone's mood. Find a local shelter and just spend your morning gathering up the love and affection from the little fur-balls.

2. Movie Marathon Your Celebrity Crush

Let's face it. Our true love will always be the characters our celebrity crush plays. So why not spend the afternoon catching up on Heath Ledger singing in "10 Things I Hate About You" or Leonardo DiCaprio keeping Rose from jumping in "Titanic"? You know you want to.

3. Have A Girl's Night Out

While this may be an option not many of us have (since all our friends our in happy relationships), some of you may have another friend who is single. Well if that's the case, pair up and have some fun! Treat yourselves to a nice meal, or go see a movie together. Whatever it may be, at least if you guys run into any romance along the way, you have each other to remember that being single rocks!

4. Laugh It Up

One of the best remedies for loneliness or sorrow is to laugh! So grab your blanket, junk food, and favorite cuddle companion (stuffed animal, pillow, etc) and get ready to binge YouTube for some comedy. My favorite site to watch from is Bad Lip Readings.

5. Binge Watch Grey's Anatomy

If all else fails, binge watch Shonda Rhimes' creative invention--Grey's Anatomy. Trust me. These relationships are so intertwined and messed up, you will be thankful for being single.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
