We all know college as the time that is supposed to be "the best four years of our lives." Although that may be true for some and not for others, it is a time of growth and change for all. College is where you truly find yourself, your passion and your purpose.
I took my freshman year of college to "reinvent" myself. Going into college, I had no idea what kind of person I wanted to be or even what I wanted to major in.
After a year of ups and downs, trial and error, and many good memories, I can say that I walked off of my campus completely different than when I first walked on.
Here is what I did to get there:
1. Be YOU
Every time we get put into a new environment, it is hard not to try to act "cooler" or "smarter" or anything along those lines to impress people. I promise that if you stick true to who you are, you will be so much happier.
2. Try new things
If we do the same activities or surround ourselves with the same people we always have, we'll never know what else is out there. You never know until you try!!
3. Take time for yourself
I always found myself jumping from class to class and seeing people before, in between and after. By the time it was evening and time to do homework, I was exhausted from how busy I made myself throughout the day. Seeing friends is fun and being busy is a good thing, but don't forget to slow down and take time for yourself. Those moments are where I truly learned more about myself.
4. EXERCISE!!
Sometimes it is SO hard to get up in the morning a little early or to be motivated after class, but exercising makes you feel good and energized and can also help you feel more confident!!!

5. Focus on the positives
This is what completely transformed my mindset. Before college, I was kind of a "downer" and focused on everything that was wrong or could be better. When I started to focus on the positives, I was much happier and my quality of life improved drastically!
6. Enjoy the little things
From seeing a friend when walking to class or eating ice cream or anything in between, take time to enjoy the little things. This made me more appreciative of what I have and it in more ways than I could ever think of.
These things might not seem like they have any direct correlation to "reinventing" yourself, but they do. Starting with small daily things like these puts you in a better place so you can go out and truly find who you are. Doing this is what cultivated the change I needed in my everyday life. These things led to the right people coming into my life, my grades being better and the anxiety issues I have struggled with my whole life to go away.
The little things really do mean the most.
