Growing up with a younger sibling, the holiday season always seemed to get a little corny. The whole family did what they could to keep the little shithead happy and maintain their faith in old Kris Kringle. My sister loved the little Elf on the Shelf, which if you were in charge of moving every night, could get old real fast. So once my parents got too fed up with it, they would put that responsibility on me. This probably wasn't their greatest idea. I took full advantage of this opportunity to corrupt my oblivious and innocent young sibling. She would wake up with confusion and I would wake up with an earful from my parents.
So if you want to have a little fun with the family while corrupting the future generations, here are some tips to have the dopest Elf on the Shelf in town.
1. The Elf has to pull.
In order to be a badass elf, it has to have a lot of doll friends. Get some Barbies from your sister's room to use as props for some of your skits. Maybe even some Bratz if elf wants a little variety. Get them all set up in a makeshift hot tub in the bathroom sink that she will see in the morning. One doll is not enough for a real elf.
2. The Elf has to party.
Parents love this one! You have to prove that elf can hang. Grab some beers from the fridge and set Elf up for a good time. The good news is he won't get a hangover and he's got the whole day left to party because he won't move again until the next night.
3. The Elf needs a wardrobe change.
No one looks good in a red pajama onesie. Step your game up elf. No one is going to take you seriously. Get elf a little leather jacket and some little elf jeans and make him look like a badass. Ken is going to get real jealous when he realizes all his girls have left him.
4. The Elf has to be inappropriately funny.
Your little sibling most likely won't understand, but your parents will. You're starting to get on their last nerve, but nothing can stop you now. Elf has got his own image he has got to uphold. This elf pulls.
This holiday season, make sure everyone is having fun. Take everything with a grain of salt and laugh often. Don't forget this time of the year is meant for family and show the ones you care about the most that you love them. A good sense of humor is a great way to connect with people around you. Have a Merry Elfin' Christmas!
