Sometimes writing can be a struggle, especially if you do it often. You may be feeling uninspired, unable to come up with new ideas, and unaware where to even begin. Writer's block is a common feeling amongst all ages, from teenagers to adults. Though you may feel stuck in your writing, here are a few tips to get out of a funk.

1. Recognize the Reason

Sometimes there is a reason for why you may be having writer's block. You could have been looking at your screen for too long, or not getting enough sleep. You could also not be interested or inspired by the topic that you are writing about. Either way, figure out what the reason for your writer's block so you can start writing again!

2. Stop Writing!

I know, it sounds ironic, but taking a break and not writing for a little bit can help so much. Sometimes all you need is a break and to come back to your writing with a new pair of eyes and ideas. There have been countless times when I had writer's block and took a break. When I came back I was able to start writing a lot easier.

3. Get Some Fresh Air

This relates to the previous suggestion, but going outside and not being on any sort of technology device will be so beneficial to clearing your mind. Sometimes all we need to get our minds back in the right headspace is some fresh air and Vitamin C!

4. Do Some Research

Maybe you don't know enough about what you're writing about and that's why you have a writer's block. Well, no need to worry, that's what the internet is for! Start researching and learning more about your topic. This could even interest and motivate you to write more and get you out of that funk!

5. Ask a Friend

What else are friends/family for? Ask them for the advice! Maybe they can help you out with your topic or if they know you well, they'll know what you can do to get out of that funk.

Writer's block is extremely common. Sometimes our brains just turn off and it's not our fault. Or we get bored with our topic. Or get stuck at a certain point and don't know how to start after that block. Either way, these are a few tips that will hopefully get you out of that funk and help you stay writing!

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
