The weeks you have off in between the fall semester and the spring semester can be crazy busy. If you're like me, the retail job you've been working all semester just got really busy. I had to work 18-20 hours a week, on top of studying for finals. Since the semester has ended, I've had no time to shop for gifts for my family or outfits for the holiday parties coming up. Trying to find ways to keep my sanity and enjoy the month of December has been hard.

For others, trying to keep busy during the break is what's important. If you don't have a job, being away from the new friends you've made at college can be hard. You must find ways to enjoy the break you've been given, because the spring semester is just around the corner. Here are some ways that college students can keep busy and enjoy the holiday break:

1. Bake

What's a better way to lower stress and keep yourself occupied? Finding great cookie and candy recipes on Pinterest is a great way to pass the time. I just love making new recipes and sharing them with my family. Everyone loves when I bring a new cookie creation to the holiday party.

2. Watch Netflix

Okay, I really don't need to say this because it's a given, but binge watching your favorite show is a great way to pass the time. Watching my favorite shows has been a great way for me to de-stress after working those long hours.

3. Apply for Scholarships

If you find yourself looking for something to do during the break, applying for scholarships for the next year is a great thing to do. You can never have enough scholarships, and finding ways to pay for your college is a great way to pass the time.

4. Go out with old friends

Getting together with friends from high school is so fun. You can hear stories from each other's schools and how they are doing in college so far. Christmas break is a great way to not lose touch with your friends.

5. See a movie

During this time of year, lots of great movies are coming out. There is always something out that you would be interested in. Seeing a movie with your family or with your friends is a great way to keep busy and enjoy the break.

6. Catch up on your reading

Finding a good book and sitting with a cup of hot chocolate is a great, relaxing way to have a great Christmas break. Find a new book that you love, and enjoy the relaxation that you haven't had in a while.

7. Exercise

Fight the winter weight, and hit the gym. Staying fit is a great way to de-stress from the holidays and keep busy during your holiday break.

8. Update/Work on your resume

Get your resume ready and updated for future internships and scholarships you apply for. Maybe you even want to get a job next semester. Keeping an updated resume is a great idea and always comes in handy.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
