How To Get Rid Of A Cold In Less Than A Week

Brace yourselves, everyone! Cold season is among us! If you're like me and have an immune system that is M.I.A. 99 percent of the time, then you understand that this is the most miserable time of the year. This past week, I was feeling a little under the weather and was in a panic since the upcoming weekend was Halloween. I did some research on how to cure myself and quickly and tried it out. Now I can't guarantee that this will work for you, but it sure did work for me! Here's my guide on how to get rid of a cold in less than a week!

Colds are tricky because you can't just pop an antibiotic and rid of them. They're caused by a virus which basically means you're stuck with that shit until your immune system figures out how to clean things up. I personally love natural remedies and try to cure myself on my own before taking medicine. After some research, I found my all-natural cold miracle -- garlic!

You can Google this on your own if you don't believe me but garlic is pretty much the best thing to happen to humans since opposable thumbs. It's been documented to cure tons of different diseases and serves as a natural anti-bacterial, anti-viral, and anti-fungal agent. Now here's how to use it:

I grew up in Italian family where we cooked with garlic all the time so I'm used to the taste. However, in order to gain the cold-fighting benefits of garlic, it has to be raw (no cooking) and chopped. While this sounds rough, I found a solution that makes it pretty bearable and almost tasty!

You will need:

Olive Oil

Toast

2 large cloves of garlic (or 3-4 small ones)

Honey

First, I toasted the toast (go figure). Then, I peeled and chopped the garlic into teeny tiny pieces probably half the side of a pea. Once the toast is done, spread some olive oil onto the toast and sprinkle the little garlic chunks on top. After, squirt some honey over all the pieces of garlic. This helps to get rid of the smell somewhat and also helps to coat your throat. Now grab a glass of water to wash your masterpiece down and go bundle up for a nap.

My Results: Immediately after eating my garlic honey toast bread thing, my throat felt 90 percent better. I was experiencing that annoying post-nasal drip where you cough to get rid of the tickle in your throat. Well, the garlic had sort of a soothing, numbing effect. I was able to take a nap without waking myself up from coughing. Later that night, I had a fever. While this seems counterproductive, fevers are actually your body's way of fighting off an illness. The next day, I was already 75 percent better. I'm going on my third day of eating my garlic honey toast bread and I can honestly say I think it has cured my cold! I can finally go out and enjoy my Halloween parties cold-free!

Let me know if my cold solution works for you!

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
