What if I told you that you could get paid by playing with the most adorable dogs all day? Or what about selling all those old clothes cluttering up your closet? How about making back some of that hefty tuition money you spend every semester on classes? I thought so! These three apps are some of the fastest, easiest ways to make some easy money for the weekend.
Rover is a mobile app that connects pet parents with a network of dog lovers in order to find quality dog/house sitters, dog care providers, and dog walkers.
There are multiple options for dog owners to choose from – dog boarding, house sitting, drop-in visits, doggy day care, and dog walking. The app is very specific on what is expected per service and allows you to set your own rates as well. You are also able to choose which services you do or do not wish to offer. For those of you who take classes or work during the day, maybe try drop in visits on your way to and from work. Maybe some of y’all work the graveyard shift? You can always walk someone’s puppy a few times a day to kill some time before your night shift. Oh, I know. Some of y’all are maybe reading this after binging the new season of Orange is the New Black wishing that you were a little more productive over the summer. (That’s okay, I did the same thing.)
I downloaded Rover about two weeks ago right after I moved to Ohio for the summer. I work from 8-4 every weekday and had nothing to do besides that for the most part, mainly because I didn’t know anyone yet. In those two weeks, I had six requests, three of which have been booked. That might not sound like a lot, but these three appointments totaled over $550. Let me say that again. In a matter of weeks, I made over five hundred and fifty dollars by playing with and walking the most adorable dogs during my lunch hour, after work and over the weekends.
I can guarantee that if you’re looking for some fast cash for the weekend, Rover is absolutely the way to go.

Alright, so maybe you’re allergic to dogs. That’s okay! Everyone goes through the “spring cleaning” phase at some point, right? Trust me, I feel you.
Poshmark is also a mobile app that allows you to buy and sell absolutely anything in your closet.
From jewelry to shoes, blouses to sweatpants, dresses to jeans; if it's cluttering up your closet, post it! All you have to do is take quality pictures of what you’re selling, post the details of the item, such as designer, brand, price, and color, set the price, and post the item to your closet. From there, you can bargain with buyers about the price. Once you secure a sale, just ship the product to your customer. Yes, it’s really that simple!
One weekend during my freshman year at Auburn, I realized how small dorm rooms actually are. So, I did a bit of spring cleaning and posted my findings on Poshmark. In a little less than a week, I made around $450 off random pieces of jewelry, shoes, and articles of clothing that were taking up too much space in my cramped, little room.

Now, most of us are students at Auburn. Which means we pay an average of $1,100-$1,200 per credit hour. Not per class, per credit hour. So, I think its safe to assume most of us go to class at least the majority of the semester, right? Well, why not try to make back some of that money by selling your notes? That’s where Study Soup comes in!
Study Soup is a website that provides a space for students to post their notes and study guides for other students to purchase.
There’s only a handful of steps to register and post notes. First, make an account. Second, fill out which classes you’re taking over the semester (limited to three classes a semester). Third, take pictures or upload files of the notes and study guides you’ve taken that day or week. Fourth, email them through canvas to the students in your class. Then just wait for students to purchase them!
When I created an account, I thought I’d make a few extra bucks every week. I mean, how many students really skip class?
You’d be surprised. Let me put it in numbers for y’all. In just one semester, after posting weekly notes and short study guides for three classes, I made close to $1,300. That’s right, $1,300 for going to class. Some of my study guides totaled to around $400 in just 5 days of being posted.
Who wants to go to class now?
