10 Things To Do To Make You A Better Person

Because who doesn't like being the best version of themselves always?

I think being able to change your life is a fantastic thing and the opportunities given in this world that you honestly always change yourself for the better. I don’t personally believe in changing yourself, because someone else wants you too (unless for serious health issues). I think you need to change for yourself, whether it is for health problems, because you want to feel more confident, or even just because you feel as though it is time for a change. So here are 10 ways to not only become a better person for you and only you.

1. Listen to your favorite song more often.

Even if that means that you are listening to it 100 times in one day. Don’t let anyone decide how many times is too much to listen to a certain song. If it makes you happy, then listen to it on repeat for all I care.

2. Find a good book (and then read it!)

And when I say read it, I don’t mean skim the cover pages and wait for the possible movie to come out. I mean really read it. Sit down with a good cup of hot cocoa or coffee and truly enjoy the book that you chose. Plus a good book can solve a multitude of problems in my opinion.

3. Eat good (but also healthy) food

You would be surprised what a good meal can do for you. I would say that you should try to stay on the healthier side when eating, because it can honestly really change how you feel during the day. But don’t get me wrong; sometimes all you need in life is a 20-piece chicken nugget meal.

4. Exercise

As tedious and annoying as it might sound, exercising can help you to refocus, clear your mind. It can also help you to feel more confident as well as starting to feel healthier which in turn will help you be happier and feel lighter due to a weight being lifted off your shoulders. I know it takes a lot of work to start but usually once you get started, it is hard to stop.

5. Separate yourself from stressful or extremely difficult situations

And now I am not saying quit everything you are doing, because it gets a little hard. Perseverance is truly a skill that everyone should learn to have and gains in order to better them on a different level (but that is a article for another day). In the words of my dad, “think peaceful calming thoughts. If it is negative, remove yourself from it physically and mentally”.

6. Communicate with those around you

Communication is key both with your significant others, family and friends. Never assume anything, because it can just cause strain and frustration for everyone involved.

7. Spend quality time with friends & family

I think family and friends can be an easy cure to any bad day or just even a bad hour. Friends and family can really show you that you are loved and welcomed at all times. And who doesn’t love that

8. Spend quality time with yourself

Date night with yourself? Spa day with me, myself and I? Sign me up! Spending quality time with yourself is honestly so important and good to being a better person, because you learn more about yourself which is always great! In other words, "TREAT YO SELF!"

9. Always remember to say I love you

I think saying I love you is very important and is something you should always say to anyone you care about. Life is too short for “I don’t knows” and “I am not sure”.

10. Take a risk

The risk doesn't have to be extreme but just a little something to get your blood pumping, heart racing and make you feel even more alive than you do before you did it. Ride a rollercoaster, tell that cute girl or boy in your class you like them.

I think the hardest thing about going away to college is figuring out how to become an adult. Leaving a household where your parents took care of literally everything (thanks, Mom!) and suddenly becoming your own boss is overwhelming. I feel like I'm doing a pretty good job of being a grown-up, but once in awhile I do something that really makes me feel like I'm #adulting. Twenty-somethings know what I'm talking about.

I went to a small high school, like 120-people-in-my-graduating-class small. It definitely had some good and some bad, and if you also went to a small high school, I’m sure you’ll relate to the things that I went through.

1. If something happens, everyone knows about it

Who hooked up with whom at the party? Yeah, heard about that an hour after it happened. You failed a test? Sorry, saw on Twitter last period. Facebook fight or, God forbid, real fight? It was on half the class’ Snapchat story half an hour ago. No matter what you do, someone will know about it.

Chandler Bing

I'm assuming that we've all heard of the hit 90's TV series, Friends, right? Who hasn't? Admittedly, I had pretty low expectations when I first started binge watching the show on Netflix, but I quickly became addicted.

Without a doubt, Chandler Bing is the most relatable character, and there isn't an episode where I don't find myself thinking, Yup, Iam definitely the Chandler of my friend group.

Working with the public can be a job, in and of itself. Some people are just plain rude for no reason. But regardless of how your day is going, always having to be in the best of moods, or at least act like it... right?

1. When a customer wants to return a product, hands you the receipt, where is printed "ALL SALES ARE FINAL" in all caps.

2. Just because you might be having a bad day, and you're in a crappy mood, doesn't make it okay for you to yell at me or be rude to me. I'm a person with feelings, just like you.

3. People refusing to be put on hold when a customer is standing right in front of you. Oh, how I wish I could just hang up on you!

RBF, or resting b*tch face, is a serious condition that many people suffer from worldwide. Suffers are often bombarded with daily questions such as "Are you OK?" and "Why are you so mad?" If you have RBF, you've probably had numerous people tell you to "just smile!"
