Life is not easy and no one ever said it would be. Growing up is challenging and life demands a lot of us as human beings. With everyday stresses and new challenges to overcome one can easily feel overwhelmed and in a jam. Many people fall into depression, fearful of change or lacking a belief that all things are possible when one puts their mind to it. On the other side of the spectrum, there are some who chose to embrace these challenges realizing that they are an opportunity to find what one is made of deep within themselves.
I am by no means saying that I am a master at life as I’m only nineteen and am just completing my first year of college. I am by no means saying that I or anyone ever well or can master life, and that's okay. Just when one thinks they've got it all figured out, it can throw a curve ball. Maybe boy meets girl and they fall in love. They buy a house and make it into a home. Have a few kids and watch them grow up to be happy and successful.
It would be safe to say that that depiction is the way many people choose to picture their life. However, one must realize that life is unexplained and things happen just because they can, and there doesn't have to be a reason. Why do people get cancer? Why do natural disasters happen? Why do people do bad things to other people? Why do we die? We don’t choose for these things to happen to us, they just do. There isn't a script for our life to be played out and even if there was it wouldn't be all sunshine and roses.
How does one survive these life lessons? These struggles are real and it is within human nature to feel life deeply whether it be the good, the bad or the in-between. It is of the utmost importance that one choose to accept these challenges because in the end, it brings us closer to who we really are.
Don’t fight the change, because that is pointless. Stop envisioning a life of perfection and get in touch with reality. Disease, old age and death are inevitable; this is the future of everyone. Stop wasting life away, fearful to experience this moment. Take life for what it is moment by moment because this is all we are guaranteed. Enjoy the company of loved ones, enjoy the sunshine and even the cloudy days. Be thankful you are breathing and still have the chance to get something out of this life. Live for the betterment of yourself and the world well be a beneficiary of it. Realize how sacred this life is and don't waste time feeling sorry for yourself. Find freedom from within, and don't look back because if you do, this moment will be gone forever.
