A Sociological Perspective: How The Kardashians Are Ruining Our Lives

The Kardashians have an estimated net worth of $300 Million, and it's no thanks to themselves. We are the very loyal minions that help them collect a fat and juicy paycheck. Society today is so far up Kim K's glorious a** that we don't seem to care about the fact that the United States has accumulated over $18.2 trillion of debt, according to a Forbes article written in April of 2016. The Kardashian and Jenner clan have managed to bewitch the minds of the world by looking good, getting married for 72 days and making an app that has hit $100 million since its launch. Is this a family of driven business women or very well trained con artists?

The Kardashian family is a well thought out business plan, the idea is that they sell a product and hype it up so much that consumers actually believe it. In sociology this is called "feedback loop" and the idea is to adjust a system's performance to meet a desired output response. For example, they put themselves on an extremely high pedestal and pull very well thought out publicity stunt's to make them seem very intriguing and admirable. They also know exactly what it is that we want from them. Is this family normal? The answer is no! But they do a very good job at acting like sleeping with your sister's current boyfriend's ex is completely OK. (Thanks for the example rob & kylie) there is no way in a million years that any of us normal people can get away with doing these insane things. You can choose to either believe and obsess over them or you can get away as fast as you can and shut them out. Make America great again.

The fact of the matter is, me writing about this family is exactly what they want. As long as their names are in the paper, online or in someone's mouth they are sleeping great at night, so let's use their name to change things up a bit. Are you aware that you own colonies? And that one of them is Puerto Rico, which is in a HUGE economic crisis thanks to your colonialism. Or the fact that we aren't worshiping real bad a** women like the Gulabi gang in India who punish oppressive men and try to fight the war on domestic violence and abandonment. It is not entirely your fault for being oblivious to the things outside of The Kardashians life, because America has a media blackout on most things that matter. But it is up to you to pay attention to matters outside of the "world we know". Educate yourself on social, political and environmental issues, and appreciate the real people using their power to bring justice to the world and most importantly try to stay out of the Kardashian black hole.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
