College is supposed to be the greatest time of your life, but it also comes with never-ending work. The majority of college students find themselves swimming in this workload and often cannot find ways to end this headache called college. But the catch is, college is the greatest time of your life! Every student just needs to know the key survival tips before they begin a new semester. Even as a junior in college, I still find myself swimming in work, which is why Rory Gilmore is here to help guide us in the right direction:

1. Never give up.

There will be weeks (or everyday) where you want to give up, but don't! Some days will be the worst and you might even hit a deer, but the goal you are striving to reach is never worth giving up!

2. Not knowing your future is OK.

Some of you may be fortunate to know what you want to do in your future, others may not. If you are one of those people who do not yet, it's totally OK, you will figure it out. College is all about experiencing new beginnings and exploring what you may or may not like. Take a class in unique subjects or topics, and your future will fall into your lap once it clicks.

3. Be the nerd who gets 10 hours of sleep.

Rory gets 10 hours of sleep and she always completes her work. Be the person in college who complains about sleeping too much, rather than never getting sleep. Sleep is crucial in college and it is important that you grasp every minute of your class or lesson. Of course, go pull those all-nighters and movie nights with your friends, but sleep when there is time.

4. Keep looking your best—you never know who you will meet.

It does matter if you look pretty during your finals! Give yourself some confidence before going into that final instead of a negative outlook. Of course, sweats can be stylish, so don't worry—it's not limited to a dress only. Go into your finals and any test with the best outlook!

5. 8 o'clock classes will be torture.

Heads up...you should avoid scheduling an eight am class! Unless you love waking up at 7 a.m. (who actually does though?) Of course, you will probably have one of these during your college experience, I know I had two during my years so far. Just wake up and pull through the semester, and try not to keep pressing snooze on your alarm.

6. Fast-food is your best friend.

Junk food will be your best friend during finals week, break-ups and of course, those endless college nights with your people. It is not just amazing to taste, but it also helps you calm your nerves and makes you feel happy inside. Don't think, just eat.

7. Your back will always hurt.

Word of advice, carry those heavy books in your arms rather than in your backpack. From my experience and all of those Norton editions I had to carry, it feels much better to just carry them in your arms. Even though you try and eliminate the amount of books you have, your back will constantly be hurting. Taking off your backpack will become the greatest feeling.

8. Coffee is a must.

You will drink coffee before class, at midnight, all simply because it keeps you going. Dunkin' will become the place that you visit five times a day and the workers will memorize your order. Medium coffee with milk and sugar, please.

9. Find your person.

It can be your boyfriend, girlfriend or your roommate. This person will be there for you when you are having the worst day and will help you get through it. They will tell you to keep going to class and keep fighting through the work! Simply, they will become your person in college.

10. Find your quiet spot.

Find that one spot that you will study your brain off. This spot will be the library, outside or your dorm room. Once you have your spot, nothing will stop you from getting your work done!

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
