Over this past semester, two things have shaped me for the better, my roommates, Courtney and Macey. Never have I met two people who love me like my sister does, and care for me during the best and worst of times. And best of all, we met through social media.

The one thing besides Texas A&M that we had in common, was Twitter. One day I found Courtney on my feed and reached out to her. I guess you could say the rest is history. After the three of us messaged and got to know each other, we realized how helpful social media can be, especially when picking roommates.

Texas A&M offers a roommate finder service in which anyone can fill out a short questionnaire and they then test your compatibility with others who completed the survey to see how well you would work as roommates. This tool was very helpful but for the three of us, and like many other girls, we turned to social media outlets like Instagram and Twitter.

Looking back, I don't know what I would do if I had never found these girls. These two girls deserve the world, but here is a letter to them both just to show my deep appreciation for them and our friendship.

Courtney,

From the moment I first direct messaged you on Twitter to be my roommate, I knew you were the one. I guess you could say I slid in the DM’s pretty well, because I got one great best friend. You are in every word, my other half/twin/best friend.

You always bring out the happiness in every person you meet. Never have I gone a day without laughing. Your personality and charisma is unmatched and I wouldn’t want to go a day without being roasted by you or hearing one of your jokes.

Thank you for knowing what is going on in my head when I don’t, for always cheering me up and keeping me sane (most of the time). Your love of life and people is something that is so admirable and a quality that not a lot of people possess. You constantly lift others up, myself included, and are so loved by people. You have no idea the impact you have on others. You are driven, smart, beautiful, talented, and the liveliest person I have ever met.

I love you Court!

Macey,

You might be the best thing to come out of California. You are the most down-to-earth and kind person to come into my life in a long time. You are always there to inspire others with your compassionate words and great advice. You have taken on college so strongly and I look up to you.

I could never have the courage to move to a new state, move away from all of my family and friends, room with two crazy, random girls, all while tackling college. You are a role model, and such an amazing energy to be around. The three of us have meshed together so well, and it’s because you are our common ground.

Let’s be honest, you might be the sanest person between us three, and you keep me and Courtney in line. There is no one that I would want to make California jokes about with than you! Your love for the people closest to you and dedication to helping others is one of the many amazing attributes you have.

Thank you for taking a chance on us two Texan randoms, I love you Macey!

Finding the two of you, being able to share a love for vines and coffee, and ugly cry in front of is the best moment in this new chapter of my life so far. I don’t know what I would do without you two now that you are always around me. Thank you for our endless laughs, jam sessions, and all-nighters.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
