Studying abroad is probably one of the most interesting and adventurous things you can do in your life. Imagine coming to a whole new country with different people, languages, and culture. It could be scary at first, but I am certain that you are going to have the time of your life. Not only do you get to meet cool people, but you will also broaden your vision and learn what is out there in the world. Some of you might be interested and wonder how to begin planning your trip. As an international student, I would love to share some tips so you can fulfill your dream:

1. Choose a destination

“Where should I go and why?” – this is the question you should ask yourself while thinking about study abroad. A lot of students choose the United States, Canada, Hong Kong, or England as their destination due to the high quality of education in these developed countries. Besides, many people choose places based on their personal interests, which mean they’re in love with a specific country or culture and decide to travel there to live and study. You might want to do some research to learn about places you want to go before making decisions.

Choose a school

Choosing a school or an academy to attend can take a lot of your time to think since there are too many options. Many factors, such as tuition, ranking, major, and financial aid should be put into consideration. Will you be able to afford that school? How much the room and board will cost? Does this school offer a study program that matches your interest? How will this school benefit your future career? These are some questions that you need to answer before applying. You can look for information on the internet, read reviews on reliable website, or go to a study abroad service agent to be counseled.

Paperwork preparation

When you accept the admissions letter from the school you chose, you’ll be excited and cannot wait to jump on the plane and begin your journey. Before you do that, there are some paperwork that needs to be filled out. Make sure your passport is still valid. A visa interview is optional, depending on which country you’re going to. Financial declarations, health forms, and other required documents should be submitted on time. Procrastination is not an advantage.

Learn the language

If you are an English speaker and decide to challenge yourself by studying in a country where English is not primary the primary language, learning the language before going is extremely necessary. Even though your study program is in English, you still need to communicate with other people outside of the school. You should also look into their culture and overcome the first few days of adjustment. Thanks to the internet, you can easily access that information whenever you want. Also, ask friends for help and buy a pocket dictionary. If you need help, finding a tutor can be beneficial.

Pack your bags

Now that you have done all your research, it’s time for the most fun job – packing! You will wonder what you should and should not bring. I would highly recommend bringing both cash and a credit card, of course. Learn about the local weather and shop for some appropriate clothes. You don’t want to wear fur boots and knit sweater when you’re flying to a Southeast Asian country, do you? Also, just in case miss your home country’s snacks (and I’m 100% sure that you will), pack some in your suitcase. Remember to bring some not only for yourself, but also for new friends that you’re going to meet there. Last but not least, all the important paperwork should be brought with you and secured in your carry-on luggage. You definitely don’t want to lose them.

Get to know your new home

After a long flight, you finally make it to another country and begin your adventurous journey. How exciting is that! In the first few weeks or months, you might experience culture shock, homesickness, and many challenges, probably due to a language barrier. First of all, don’t be panic and regret your decision already. This is normal for everyone. Eventually, you will adapt to the new environment and realize that studying abroad is not too bad. It is awesome actually! Familiarize yourself with the place by going out, talk to people, and explore what is in the city. Become friends with someone who is from the area and ask them for recommendations.

Studying abroad is not just about getting your education in another country. It is a way to develop yourself and enhance essential skills needed in life. Deciding to step of your comfort zone is a risky move, but you will learn more than you can ever imagine. Life is a journey and you should not waste it. Be brave, go out there to see the world, and have some fun!

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
