With finals coming up and the realization that everything is going to feel like it’s coming full speed at you all at once, there are a few things to keep in mind. You only have one, maybe two weeks left, but this does not mean slack off now, rather this has to be where you grind through the most.

Believe it or not, how you choose to go about these last few days, whether it consists of a final paper or just participation, can be the breaking of your grade, or the validation of that A from the A- you’ve been yearning.

You have the time, more than you think, use it!! Take complete advantage of the study rooms and the coffee runs, a few all-nighters will not kill you, It will be worth it!

When you’re struggling to get yourself to stop procrastinating or dreading the thought of cracking open the book you know you will have your eyes glued to for the next 3 hours, think about how good it’s going to feel to go home and have all summer!

You are fully capable of putting in the work, take a nap in between assignments, go on a study break, bring a late night snack, do whatever it takes to get yourself comfy and willing enough to get right down to it.

Make a check list of what you need to do, do the assignments first, bang them out in one night, you got it! This will allow yourself to allocate most of your free time to study for the exams.

Do not push anything to the side at this point! The more you get ahead on everything, the better off you will be. Going through the motions and being able to check finished work is such a satisfying feeling.

I personally wait for my classes of the day to end and get most productive at night when it feels like I have all the time in the world. You don’t have enough time to settle in to study when you only have an hour, chances are you’ll be rushing through it.

You want to have no other worries about going anywhere else, which is why going after dinner and working through the night when it’s quiet and calm, is in my opinion, the best way to go.

Bring your headphones and shut out any other sounds besides the music playing in your head. I noticed that the best papers I write are when I’m playing music only I can hear, I have a theory that when you’re playing music you choose and you are the only one listening, it’s like being in your own world and allows you to focus better.

You are trying to get the best possible grades you can for each course, the worst thing you can do is slack off in classes you are already doing well in to just put all of your concern on the exams you need to do well on.

The setback in this is that you may end up finding yourself on the cusp for the classes you were doing well in because you decided to put it to the side while you worried about other courses. It is safest to just go about each class as if you are at the same stance for each and schedule your time wisely.

The last few weeks are tough for all of us but 4.0’s still happen!! Which means if someone can do it, so can you, it’s just about the type of effort you are willing to put in.

Have a strong willed mindset this week so that you won’t just enjoy your summer but you’ll enjoy it knowing you earned it.

With that being said, good luck to everyone this week, the grind isn’t forever, we got it.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.
