Pokémon GO is the new craze that has everyone getting off of their butts and walking around trying to "Catch 'Em All." But for those who don't play this game, watching those who do is very interesting to say the least.
Pokémon GO is the first thing in a while that has gotten people up and moving. Yes, people are still on their phones, but at least they're getting out of the house. And while I did like Pokémon when I was growing up, I have not joined the rest of my peers in downloading the app. I will say, that seeing my friends, co-workers and random strangers casually walking around trying to "catch" the various Pokémon is the funniest thing I have seen in a while. This is what the non-players see:
They download the app and their childhood memories come rushing back.
All of the reminiscing is like a slap in the face.
Ouch.
Their dreams of being a trainer become true, at least virtually.
Yes, they really do "want to be the very best, like no one ever was". Even people who have never played Pokemon before think that they can be the best without any knowledge of what goes on. It's Rattata, not Ratatatat.
They walk or drive aimlessly around town, some even miles, to catch various Pokemon to add to their Pokedex.
I know people who have actually walked three or more miles to try and find different Pokemon. Instead of having their head down, texting, they are holding their phones to "catch" these creatures. And yes, I know people who have gotten lost while searching. Some people even run errands, walk their dogs, use their breaks, etc., to catch Pokemon. Just please don't try and catch Pokemon and drive, or walk in the middle of the street.
Because of the amount of people joining and playing, the servers are constantly having problems.
Personally, I think that it's Team Rocket trying to sabotage everyone and catch the Pokemon themselves.
They argue about which team is better.
Team Instinct:
Team Valor:
Team Mystic:
They really know how to express their excitement, pain and any other emotion while battling or trying to catch Pokemon.
We may or may not be judging you as you scream in the car about how the servers don't work or that you couldn't catch the Pikachu that was down the block because we drove by too fast. The amount of times that I was in a fit of laughter over their reactions was too many to count. Maybe I'll get those abs faster than I thought.
While it feels a bit lonely being one of the few who hasn't succumbed to their childhood, I personally still won't download it. Pokemon was a part of my childhood, but I can always relive it vicariously through the thousands of people that play it. Plus, it gives me a good laugh watching everyone else play it.
