It's no secret that college is expensive, and odds are you're working a part-time job to help offset that cost. Sure, you're not particularly excited about going to work (especially after that three hour lecture you hate), but here are some things to think about the next time you're counting the hours until it's time to clock out:
1. Carryover "serious mode"
When you go to work, you have to put everything on hold for a few hours and remove yourself from everything that's not in the confines of your job. You plan your day around your shift, and generally turn into a more productive version of yourself. When you get into work mode, you tend to stay motivated to get work done. Luckily, you have that nine-page term paper due tomorrow that you've been putting off for way too long.
2. You know the value of a dollar
When all of your paycheck is split between a million items on your personal budget, you know it all counts. You have your life together because you have to. Looking at your account balance yields no surprises, and you know exactly where every dollar is going. Wasting money is not an option, therefore you're smart about every transaction. Look at you being responsible!
4. A terrible part-time job shows you exactly what you don't want to be doing for the rest of your life
There is no greater motivation than being stuck where you don't want to be. So while you're dreading that eight-hour shift ahead of you, channel that lethargy into some hardcore work ethic that will take you to bigger and better things. While you're putting in the work, realize that it's all means to a pretty sweet end.
Keep on truckin', minimum wage earners of the world. You'll be a better you because of it.
