How To Make The Best Of Sorority Recruitment

There's no way to describe how sorority recruitment works. It's something that you just have to experience to understand. But sorority recruitment is an exciting time filled with good times and great women. But despite all of the excitement and amazing memories that come from sorority recruitment comes a little bit of stress and a few nerves. But of course, that's expected and completely okay.

Every woman who has gone through recruitment remembers her first house at the beginning of the week and running to her sisters on bid day. However, everyone can become a little overwhelmed despite all of the fun and excitement. During recruitment week, it's easy to forget to take care of yourself. But with a few helpful recruitment tips, the week as a PMN can go a little smoother!

1. Drink lots of water.

This piece of advice seems so basic and simple, but drinking plenty of fluids can easily be forgotten. Staying hydrated is so important especially when you're in and out of sorority houses for many hours a day in hot August weather. Be sure to drink plenty of water in the morning, throughout the day and at night.

2. Eat plenty of food.

This one also seems obvious but eating enough and eating right is also so important. Days could be long and with the August heat, getting enough food will keep you from getting exhausted and keep you on your feet! Make sure to eat breakfast, maybe pack a snack and always eat dinner.

3. Sleep is your friend!

Nerves can keep even the most sound sleepers from getting a good night's rest. But no matter how excited or nervous you might be, getting enough hours of rest is important to last you through the day. Trying to get through long hours with a few hours of sleep will become exhausting and nearly impossible. So whenever you can, be sure to sleep and make the most of your down time!

4. Wear comfy shoes.

Comfort is key, especially when you're on your feet all day. Everyone has that one pair of shoes that they just love, but maybe they aren't the best to walk in. But if you're confident enough to rock them all day, go for it! Maybe bring a pair of flip flops to walk from house to house in to give your feet a break. But remember, it is possible to look cute AND be comfy at the same time!

5. Be true to yourself.

Joining a sorority is all about finding your people and if you're anything like me, I wanted to fit in at every house. It's important to remember that while every house is important and awesome in their own way, so are you. Being yourself is most important when going through recruitment because you will find your true forever family that way. Don't try and fit a certain mold. Don't be upset if things don't go as planned because everything will work out. While cute outfits are fun or talking to girls is exciting, remember that you're going through recruitment for yourself. No matter how your recruitment experience works out, always keep staying true to who you are.

There is no way to describe sorority recruitment to someone who hasn't gone through it themselves. It's fun, it's exciting, it's nerve wracking, it's unexplainable. But by sticking to a few helpful hints and by keeping an open mind, you will surely make the best out of sorority recruitment. You'll find those new friends and your Greek family sooner than you expected!

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
